..in the BCSNCG in January would you rather go in as the winner of the first game on Nov 5th, or the underdog first-game loser with a chip on your shoulder? Why?

If we win in Tuscaloosa then there is no doubt we will be able to beat Bama in NO. Unless Lee gets hurt

Unbeaten trumps one loss any day of the week
Win both to leave no doubt

If you split, why not play best two out of three

I have a feeling, Boise State will get their shot if all hell breaks loose even over some one loss teams

winner at the last second or in extremely close fashion. That way we would spend the rest of the season hearing how Bama was better and should've won that game-much like UGA 2003

Another question along these lines is if one team wins the first game and the other team wins the NC game who is the real NC? Do they both claim a share?

I think that it does.
With the teams being so evenly matched in so many areas, the intangibles come into play moreso in a re-match, and I am not sure the the winner of the first game could beat the loser twice with the motivation of that loss. A re-match could actually happen here and it is a legit question in that case.

Better question, in your scenario if the teams split, and go undefeated otherwise, how do you call one of them the national champion over the other.

Always as the winner. Leaves no doubt if you win both games.

I always like being the underdog, but I don't think the chance of a rematch is likely. This is our opportunity and I think the players know that.

I had not even thought along those lines. Very good question with no obvious answer, except 2 out of 3, which would never happen.

I want to see us beat Bama period end of story.

Whatever sport, whenever and wherever they want to play don't care if its syncronized swimming. . Just win.

Nothing else really matters.

Anything less than undefeated this year will be a letdown.

In a normal yr. Being the loser wouldn't hurt, because you'd get to skip SEC CG and rest a little more. But the SEC East is so far down, that I don't think thats an issue this year.

But to answer your question. Always the Winner!
