Sorry if Germans.

This is one of my favorite parts of the gameday experience. For some reason, I love it. It's one of those subtle traditions that helps to define what makes a program special a unique. That being said - where did this originate? What's the history?

Especially if you were at the Miami game long ago and Vandy a couple years ago.

I like the people who think Dan Borne came up with the silly notion.

This is the game that got umbrellas banned in Tiger Stadium... wind & rain so fierce it turned everyone's umbrellas upside down in the student section. At some points in the game, you couldn't even see the other side of the stadium.

That Vandy game sucked. My parents bought 4 ponchos but took all of them in to their seats in the West upper instead of giving us 2 to bring to the NEZ

miami 88

i remember a couple of flags poleS on top of the south endzone came down with that wind.

I thought LSU had a chance since the rain would slow down the Canes. HAHAHA!

It is pretty legit that for a period of several years during the 60's and 70's it did not rain during LSU games. Hence the phrase, "It never rains in Tiger Stadium!" I remember as a child my family did not bring rain gear with us to LSU games for that very reason. That stopped in 1979 when we almost drowned during the Bama game. (They were # 1 and we lost 3-0). Miami game was worse, even with rain gear.

It was pretty fun to watch all the different streakers though during the weather delay!!! Never pack 93,000 drunk people in one place with nothing to do!!!!

This. So funny. Miserable delay but it was hilarious. I tell people about that game all the time

i was at lsu from '87 to '91 and don't recall ever hearing borne say that, nor throughout the 90's although i wasn't at every home game.

seems that i recall it started in the early 2000's. there were several games, fresno, oreg st, etc where it poured. borne jokingly said before the game when it was pouring down that the chance of rain was never. iow, it's a recent phenomenon, iirc.
