While the group fully admits to their lack of experience in mining for gold, the show is edited to highlight all of the screw ups. That's all the show is about.

The show was interesting yet annoying to watch. They literally had not a single clue about what they were doing the entire season. They built the whole setup and run it for months and then at the end of the season they have a guy come in and point out how every single thing was wrong.
I'm hoping they pickup where they left off, because they seem to be right on the gold when the season ended. But I fully expect them to come back and discover that their whole setup was destroyed and a walmart was built on top of the dig site or something.

I thought they lost the claim and have to start from scratch at a new site?

Season started and I knew these frickers were gonna strike it rich and there actually be an interesting season since they left off right on the gold... and that sneaky arse Fred bought the claim
..so now that they're about to completely start over at a new site and sold their entire operation to Fred, I assume this season will be just like last season with them spending the entire time building the setup and working out the kinks.
As soon as they said they were starting all over I was over the show. Sadly I'll probably still tune in all season.

Evidently this thing is pretty much scripted. I know a guy who has a claim in the same area, and while some of it is legit, there is definitely retakes and pursuasion. I think the guys got something like 1k per show or something along those lines and were totally inept. I have watched it a couple of times and it blows me away at how awful these guys really are at mining. Anyway, the producers kind of set the agenda and not sure how much of a willing player the
cast really was. Do know that "glory hole" they dug was pretty random. Supposedly they are going to the Yukon, near Dawson for another claim.

The first episode of season 2 had a lot of scripted moments while they were letting the Fred buying the claim drama play out. The group knew from the beginning this was the case but had to go through the motions to make it more dramatic.
There was even a moment where editing screwed up with the draining of the "glory hole" water levels giving away an inconsistent timeline of events.

So is anyone watching this season? This is one of those shows that Discovery does not offer on Demand. I only caught the last 15 minutes of this weeks episode.
