Was wondering if anyone has heard good/bad things about the upcoming Mass Effect 3 (think it comes out early next year).

I liked the first one and loved second.

Great series. IMO

In my opinion Mass Effect is the best game of this generation cycle.

I might pick on ya in the Rant, but on the GB we bros.

They announced co-op a week ago or so. all I know is as long as they separate the 2 modes (SP and Co-Op) I'll be ok with it. Bioware has gotten so big, there is almost no chance the same team worked on both.

I can't wait to see how the series concludes and what BioWare has planned for the Mass Effect universe afterwards.

I'm losing faith in Bioware's ability to deliver great RPGs, I think they're trying to pander to the mainstream a bit too much.

The new multiplayer features for 3 have me a bit nervous. Why not finish off this trilogy that has always been single player with another single player game? I hope they don't dumb things down in order to make co-op more palatable. Multiplayer is great and all, but in the wrong series it can frick things up. This is my concern.

ETA: I didn't really research the co-op, but if it's standalone, I'm a lot less anxious about it. That still means that they had to devote time away from the main narrative in order to get the co-op up and running though.

However, I want to know what happens to Commander Shephard and how his story concludes as much as anyone.

They just announced "Galaxy of War" mode, basically a standalone 4 player coop against CPU. Looks pretty badass.
Galaxy of War

Better combat and all that. This game definitely completes the story of Commander Shepard (sadly :/). I've 2 of the 4 planned books and really liked them. Really delves into the story of the universe!

Wouldn't have it any other way. I act like an arse on the Rant for fun myself.

I like the idea of multiplayer, if it's done right. It would deliver more Mass Effect fun after finishing off the campaingn a few times.

I actually played 2 first (before I knew how good it was). I had to go back and play the original, so I could transfer the game file to the second. I'm now playing the second with my file transfer and it's pretty cool.

Let's see, I have played through the first on 3 times. I then had 2 options for each of those in Mass Effect 2, and played through it 6 times.

i played mass effect 1 to completion twice. it was pretty clunky and a real chore the second time but i did it for the story.

mass effect 2 is one of the best all-around games of this generation.

i have high hopes for 3.

i read that the co-op is completely disconnected from campaign, basically just a group of missions on the side

It said that the co-op mode can affect the "galactic readiness" of the single-player campaign. So I'm think if you complete some of the co-op missions it will boost the defenses against the enemies in ME3, but they also said that any ending can be achieved without the use of co-op.

I've got a ps3 so I'll never get the chance to play the original but ME2 is 1 of 2 games that I've played through twice (arkham is the other.) ME3 is going to be awesome, thankfully it's not getting released during this 2 month period of gaming chaos.

Horde mode with ME powers.. no other multiplayer. Won't be deathmatch or crap like that.
