Just tried this scotch on for size. I tried it since I was a fan of the Glenfiddich 15 year Solera and the Balvenie 12 year Doublewood which use similar techniques as this double cask.

The nose on it was fairly sweet with some slight fruity notes (mostly like pear to me). The color is nice and amber (mostly from the sherry casks) and it had good legs. The palate started as very smooth with nice sweetness and good fruit notes and it finished with a spicy aftertaste. When I cut it with a small capful of water, it opened up the fruit notes as well as some nice smokey notes if you let it sit on the tongue for a while.

Overall, good value at $40 a fifth out here in Jackson and definitely recommend it.

I'm a novice myself. I've been mostly a bourbon guy, but I've started branching out since I have a lot of friends who are scotch guys (seems to be the "doctor thing to do"). I've been tasting my way through several brands and styles. It definitely takes a while to get used to all the different styles and you slowly start figuring out what you like.
