blows my mind that our total offense ranks 90 but scoring offense is 19th. thanks to special teams and defense making plays i guess.

That would explain high scoring offense vs low total yards.

Total Offense stats seem the same w/ Coach Stud as with Coach Crowton.

Ok. Why then don't these figure more into total offense? I agree, I would even include sacks allowed. But it's clear our offense needs some work.

I think avg. starting field position has to be taken into consideration.

I also think it was the same under Crowton - except he couldn't take advantage of the good field position and turnovers.

Also, I've noticed in college football and the pros that offense and defense is a culture. Take TT for example - they still have a "high octane" offense (still pass happy) despite the coaching changes. It will take time to develop a culture of fast moving, high scoring offense at LSU.

So how do you reconcile the scoring offense stat?

I am with you. I hate total stats. What was our scoring offense last year? Not that it is really relevant

I have no clue what it was. I like the current one though, so I don't really feel the need to figure it out either.

This shite is getting old.

Somebody needs to manage that.

This is Week 5, so it's not LSU's schedule.

Only 3 turnovers on the year to date. That has been crucial to the success of our offense.

Had 13 turnovers through this point in the season last season.

So while the offensive yards are not much higher, the offense has been much more efficient and not put the defense in tough spots.

We're also much more efficient in the redzone this season.

2010 - 86% scoring/53% TD
2011 - 96% scoring/83% TD

That is a huge difference. Note that the only miss so far was the dropped TD pass by Randle followed by the missed chipshot FG against WVU.

What makes you think there is any effort to do this?

Why would we want that? Four of the best teams in the nation (LSU, Alabama, Wisconsin and Stanford) just line up and ram it down the defense's throats.
