It seems ever sense replacing our Offensive Coordinator things are much more consistent with our offense. Our defense is stronger and wanting to give the offense as good a field position they can knowing the offense will move the ball.

Can anyone close to the program speak to this in terms of chemistry? Was Crowton just a bad fit and wanting to run things his own way?

This was not the only ingredient needed, but it was a good start toward offensive improvement.

Hard to argue with 39 PPG in 2011 ... and this is only Krags first year

It seems to have been a big part of our offense struggles.

You think Crowton would have the offense rolling like it is currently?

much more consistent

This. Crowton's play calling was just to sporadic...no flow. It's all about flow.

Have to say it was both Crowton and JJ. I say this because we saw video of the quarterbacks running the read option this past spring and fall when Crowton was gone. If JJ was still the QB, we'd still be seeing a lot of the same offense as before.

Let's not forget an improved o-line. What I've seen in the first 3 (real) games this year is better than just about anything I've seen from our o-line the past 2 years.

Someone said it, but a combination of JL at qb and Crowten out is whats different. I honestly don't think this offense would be looking the same as it is if JJ was qb. I'm not meaning I think JJ wouldnt make the passes etc.. although I don't think he would. What I am saying is I think we would be seeing a lot more option, run with the qb, rollout type plays and it seems like our wheel house is pound the ball out of the I, hit it deep for a play action pass. Then pass out of the gun and hit up a run for 5-10 yeards. I don't think we would be running this offense the same if JJ was qb.

Yes we've been saying all along since 2009, hell 2008 that the problem was Crowton. Too many formations, too many plays, too many substitutions, our offense was constantly shitty week in and week out. We had too much talent to be that shitty.

With Lee, probably so. Crowton had a great offense in 2007 and a good offense in 2008 with Flynn and Lee at the helm respectively. With Jefferson starting in 2009 and 2010 LSU just so happened to have one of the worst offenses in the country and probably worst in school history. Remove JJ and suddenly offense is good again. Go figure.
