This is not new news, it extends into officiating, scheduling, tournament sites, all aspects of how the SEC is run. It is run for the benefit for the Alabama schools and to the detriment of LSU whenever possible. Do you think it is coincidence that the main Alabama school challenger, LSU, is saddled with the perennially best team in the SEC East, Florida?

So when LSU is screwed by an interception that didn't happen, or a penalty that has never never been called before or since, that a friend of Bear Bryant is supervising the replay booth, those redneck eyes are winking at each other.

I'm sensing some pent up hostility.

So are you happy or angry about aTm and the potential change in scheduling?

1.) You're making the rest of us look like pusses.

2.) Playing Florida every year makes us better.

3.) Even if there was some sort of conspiracy a.) we've somehow managed to win 2 National Championships over the past 8 years despite your claims and b.) there's nothing you can do about it anyway. So stop acting like Georgia.

well then the addition of Texas A&M and the new scheduling will allow us the opportunity to forge new permanent rivalries.....

we were always called the Vanderbilt on the Bayou, right?

Well, the UA-UT/ AU GA rivalries are both legitimate, old rivalries that were worth preserving.

If AU becomes a part of the Eastern division (allowing it to resume another traditional match up with UF),

then the sole reason for having this current schedule will be to preserve the UA/UT game.

I don't mind the rivalry with Florida, Florida is also saddled with LSU, the point is the SEC office is supposed to be neutral, it isn't. It's like playing tennis with someone who thinks you don't know he's giving himself all the line calls, beat him anyway, just let him know you know.

And Alabama has UT as a permanent opponent. I suppose some of you are too young to remember their dominance. Everything ebbs and flows.

No, but so what? A game against Florida brings in more revenue than a game against Vanderbilt. It isn't about winning games, it's about winning money.

Rabalais' right, of course. It's a shitty system, but I won't say I dislike it merely because it makes LSU's road a bit harder. It does, but I sort of like playing Florida.

I'll say I hate it because it was done solely to accommodate BAMA (and to a lesser extent TENN, UGA and AU) so frick them. The idea that what BAMA wants BAMA gets is tired. Some how Nebraska and Oklahoma managed to work out the rivalry issues when they realigned the Big 12 years ago...BAMA and TENN need to figure a way to do it too.

If you can't beat Florida, Alabama and Auburn in the same year, you don't deserve to be in the conversation for the national championship.

The solution is to move both Auburn and Alabama to the East which will keep the TN/Bama and UGA/Auburn rivalries in tact or you have to do away with them. They could move Kentucky, Vandy, or even Florida to the West to balance it out after the 14th team is added. I know Florida in the West doesn't make sense geographically, but who cares. You also can't move Auburn to the east and not Bama because you'll have the same issue when you separate those 2.

Exactly. Bama/UT has been a long standing tradition and YES, the current scheduling format was to make sure that game and the AU/UGA game stayed. LSU got paired with UF. People tend to forget that at the time the "cross-rivals" were set, UF was traditionally a very average SEC team (like 6th or 7th best out of 10), they were just starting to come on as a perennial national power. It was just happenstance that UF went on to be the most dominant SEC program for the next 20 years, while Bama, UT, UGA and AU all experienced "down" periods.

Complaining about this shite year in and year out makes us sound like a pretty pathetic fanbase. But...but...but, it's not fair that LSU has to play UF every year. Why? It's one of the most anticipated games of the year, unlike Saturday morning's slug-fest with UK.

I somewhat agree

And the fact that the officiating office is headed by a bama alum and in birmingham is absurd.

I hope Florida remains a permanent fixture on LSU's schedule.

Amen. It doesn't stop at football, either. In 2010 LSU won the SEC baseball tournament but was sent to the UCLA regional while runner-up Alabama went to the Georgia Tech regional in Atlanta.

Let's not forget 2005. LSU beat both Auburn and Alabama, finished the regular season 10-1 but lost to Georgia in the SEC Championship game held in Atlanta. So what was LSU's reward for winning the SEC West? They were sent to a lesser bowl back to Atlanta while Auburn and Alabama played in higher payout New Year's Day bowls. Steve Spurrier even commented and said LSU got screwed by the SEC officials in Birmingham.

Alabama permanent was Tennessee who was just as good or better talent wise than Florida at the time. LSU lost UK as a permanent but you want Florida on the schedule because in the end that helps your stature nationally.
