release T A&m from the legalese that was keeping
1)the SEC from expanding and
2)the Big XII stable(?)

Texas can't move conferences without making major concessions to the LHN.

Nobody wants OU without Texas. So, OU is stuck.

As long as the Big XII has OU and UTa it can survive. It'll just suck.

first of all, it wasnt the big12 threatening legal action

secondly, as of this morning, nobody, including Baylor has agreed to waive anything at this point. It was a hot topic on the radio this morning as they interviewed 3 people with ties to the situation and not one had a definitive answer as to what transpired to make the SEC finalize the deal.

I get the idea that no one wants OU and OSU without Texas. I think that OSU is what kept OU out of the Pac 12.

A&M leaving by themselves means the Big 12 is still alive. Baylor wasn't 'damaged' and still has a home so the threat of lawsuits has been greatly abated.

There are no damages to sue over if the Big12 stays together and TV contracts stay in place.

Big12 staying together = no damages to any Big12 schools by A&M leaving

Wonder who they will try to sue in the next few years when the Big 9 crumbles.

i have one. the sec lawyers have had time to ascertain ken starrs lawsuit has no chance of winning and it only represents sword rattling with a rubber sword. there is tons of precedent here and baylor would be fools to spend the vast sum of money to prosecute a futile lawsuit. unless starr is a complete dumb arse (which i don't think he is; he is merely a whore) his intention was to slow the process down and hope like hell that would save the conference. baylor has a law school and maybe could have got some free legal work, but possible counter sutits by a&m and the sec could have cost them, a private university, some serious bucks. personally, i hope i'm wrong and he sues and we countersue and he gets fired over it.
