Talk about earning your money in a high stakes poker game right now. Their ability or inabiltiy to get a seat at table at one of the major conferences will shape their programs for the next 20 to 30 years. These schools have had a moderate amount of success in some of the big sports and each are large state schools. Can you imagine if they end up in some Mid America conference with a bunch of no names.

Missouri
Kansas
Kansas St.
Iowa St.

Moderate success? Didn't KU win a men's basketball national title like two years ago?

Well everyone here seems to base everything on football. Kansas has had great success in Basketball, Mizzou has recently been a nice football program, Kansas St. was a nice football program in the 90's and has some decent bball teams. Iowa State is good in wrestling.

Mizzou-will land somewhere
KU-ditto
K-State-screwed
Iowa State-ditto

But there really isn't anything any of them can do, except program Scott, Slive and Delaney's numbers on the speed dial and then wait for the phone to ring.

Didn't a bunch of people from their athletic department get indicted for running a ticket-scalping scam that helped chase Lew Perkins into retirement?

Yes. And most of them were Oklahomans!

Worst case, the survivors of the Big-12 (these four, along with Baylor) could invite the entire current & future Mountain West to join and still have a 16-team superconference with a BCS bid!
Plains: ISU, KSU, KU, MU, TCU, Baylor, UNM, AF
Mountain: CSU, Wyo, Boise, Fresno, Nev, UNLV, SDSU, Hawaii
