It seems that the ACC is wanting to be the basketball equivalent of the SEC in football.

Pitt and Syracuse add nothing to the football credibility.

Heard on espn radio this morning they are considering UConn and Rutgers.

Their football will be a joke. Basketball will be amazing.

Yeah I don't see grabbing any ACC schools now unless there are teams that feel they are more football than basketball and want to be in a football powerhouse instead of a basketball powerhouse.

that's a bit of an overstatement...overall, they will still be every bit as good as the Pac12...and just a little behind the Big10+?

A joke is a bit much. The ACC didnt look too terrible yesterday. But your right about basketball. They have a frickin stranglehold on basketball now with the addition of the NY and PITT markets. Playing the ACC championship game in MSG is pretty legit.

I like what they've done. They are a Bball conf and have embraced it. Fla st and vt should bail and join the sec, they are football schools.

May be why the ACC made this move.

Ole Miss, Auburn, Kentucky, and a few other SEC teams wouldn't do so great in the ACC in football this year. I agree. They are a basketball conference, and used that to their advantage in creating a super conference, and will now put themselves in a good position to get big $$$ on a TV deal. Quite honestly, I think their additions might end up being be a better move for their conference than aTm, Mizzou, and WVa for SEC.

VT now will get some of its big east rivals back and will spend less money traveling than they would if they moved to SEC. And the big money stick that the SEC could dangle in front of them may be of no moment now if the ACC renegotiates its TV contract and gets big money with a basketball TV deal. VT can take that money and pump it back into their football for all they care. Plus, they would end up being 1 of 4 teams being the king of a super-conference, where in the SEC, they would always be a middle of the pack team. Why should they or FSU leave now?

FSU/VT would literally have to be retarded to leave the ACC after the addition of Cuse/Pitt. They stand to make a killing on whatever deal happens for basketball.

What is the upside of them going to the SEC? They pretty much have a 50% chance every year of winning the ACC and going to a BCS bowl. Why would you leave that to go to the SEC and get manhandled?

They can't play the ACC Championship in the garden becasue the Big East is there, at leats as of now.

Is that Rutgers I hear begging the ACC for admittance? U Mass to the Big East?
