The Offense

Because of stupid penalties and good special teams play by MSU, our offense started with terrible field position most of the game. Besides the last int I believe our best field position was around the 20 yard line. Now we still managed to put up over 360 yards of total offense, but the field position is why we didn't put it in the end zone as much as we should have. J. Lee looked really solid as well as RR(except for that one drop). O-Line made a few mistakes but overall played well. Ware and Ford also played well. They keep constant pressure on a defense. Overall I give the offense a B.

The Defense

Aside from a few draw plays in the first half the defense looked unreal. The d-line was in the backfield all night. I believe we had 11 tackles for loss and around 5 sacks. The secondary seemed to be glued to MSU WR's, but we did let their backs sneak out of the backfield a few times for solid gains. The thing that sticks out to me about this defense is that opposing teams have to earn every single yard and backs and receivers have to pay for every yard they earn. Our defense pounds RBs and WRs. Overall I give the defense an A.

Special Teams

Field Goals... Perfect

Punt Coverage... Decent

Punting... Missing Wing

Kickoffs... Scary
Later in the game we did a better job, but earlier in the game we looked terrible. These poor kicks turned the field position for MSU and caused our offense to have to start deep in our own territory. Overall C

My biggest concern at this point. Like I said before, someone like Tre Mason could bring those out pretty far if not bring it all the way back.

On offense, I think it was important that we controlled the ball all night and, even if we didn't score, the offense was productive. If I remember correctly, we only had one 3 and out the entire game, and that was becuase of penalties etc.

Overall, the offense impressed me with its ability to move the ball on MSU. Certainly, we wish there would have been touchdowns instead of feild goals, but, overall, I think they did a great job.

The defense was simply amazing.

I disagree.
We were too conservative with the play calling in the red zone. With Randle and Peterson at our disposal, we should be attacking the endzone.

I don't remember Randle having a drop.

Agree with everything else.

Blitz pickup on PA passes needs to get better. Three big sacks in three games on the same PA pass. All three of those sacks ended up stalling those drives.

3rd and 4 or so, pretty deep in State territory, hit him for what would have been a 1st down. He cut inside to make a move, before he secured the catch. If I remember, it was the drive we ended up kicking the FG to go up 9-6.

edited to add- was big at the time, because State had tied the game and the stadium was at it's loudest. We were driving and basically trying to establish control, and Lee hit him in the hands. It ended up not costing us, but it could have; and that's the type of catch he needs to make on the road against Bama or we might have trouble

If you count those as separate, I think that's right. The DLinemen, alone, had 11.5 TFLs (sacks included, if I'm not mistaken).
