LINK

Slive talks about having A&M in the conference and scheduling 13 teams.

quote:

"In the 78 year history of the SEC, the conference had accepted the membership applications of only two institutions—Arkansas and South Carolina. Texas A&M is now the third. We remain optimistic that Texas A&M will be a member of the SEC and have started to look at schedules for 2012-13 involving thirteen teams.

This info is a week old.

ETA: Obviously the link and statement are from today, but there is nothing there regarding A&M that wasn't already known.

With a statement like that, I'll be patient as hell with the lawsuit, the Baylor B.S., with everything.

Let's focus on 2011 football and let the leaders do their thing.

Nothing new

ETA: Legalese for "The SEC is hopeful that we will receive Baylor's signed waiver"

Their statement and tone last week was kind of pessimistic, however, this is a very confident statement.

As for the "isn't new" crowd, the twitter media is blowing up about it.

I agree with Ali. This is a very subtle way of the SEC letting everyone else know this is still happening. Considering how quiet it was last week, this is a like a shotgun in an auditorium...

So how is this going to work with 13 teams?

I've heard that it's multi-level marketing ... A&M has to flip-flop between the West and East every year until we can land a suitable #14 for the SEC.

I don't know how it will work honestly. As Clay Travis and his mathematician friend found out, scheduling a 13-team league is impossible. Something unconventional will have to do for the mean time, until 14th team is found.

I'm all for A&M but if this jacks up the schedule for multiple years I'm going to be really pissed.

I think this is a pretty big deal. His statement seemed more than just legalese, it pretty much said nothing is going to stop them from admitting us. Notice the "when" A&M joins the conference, there was no "if". As far as the schedule goes, I'm sure it can be worked out but I'm pretty excited to see what it will look like.

A&M is the team making the move. We should suffer any negative consequences until a suitable 14th team can be added.

That means we may have to play more away games. May have to do without some games during the season, and may not be eligible for a title game appearance for a while (like that's going to be a problem, ha).

I'm perfectly fine with suffering the negative consequences from being the odd team out until another team is brought in as well, only fair. I imagine it will probably only be one season anyway.

Yeah. We should make it as easy as possible on all current SEC teams. If they were counting on a home game OCC, and we blew that up, I think we should at least split revenues if we play at Kyle.

The MAC makes it work. The 6 team division plays every one in their div + 3 cross div games (18 total). In the 7 team div, 3 teams play everyone + 2 cross and 4 teams skip a div game and play 3 cross for a total of 18 cross games.
