I know we talked about this a couple weeks ago but just wanted to get y'all opinions again. I have been having state farm for both car and home forever. After getting everything quoted out by agents, I will likely be going with imperial for homeowners and progressive for car.

Both are much cheaper for the same coverage. My question is what do I lose on? As far as making claims, I guess it could be slower in getting money. Just trying to get feedback if anyone has either of these

You get what you pay for. Good luck getting any claims paid.

That's them. That's definitely helpful, now I just have to decipher what I'm looking at.

I recently chose imperial for my homeowners. After some research, I chose them primarily because of the low rates. I think they are a B+ rated company and the main reason for that is because they are fairly new to writing homeowners policies.....

I think that is what I remember....

State farm is good about that. I don't think I'll ever leave them for auto. They were just too high for homeowners.

State Farm is ridiculous high on homeowners. I would choose AMICA over State Farm but I am also choosing Imperial b/c of the cheap rates along with the no hurricane deductible.

Grant it, if they don't pay, then it won't matter what the deductible is.

Progressive is perfectly fine. I've had them forever.

Imperial is lower rated, but they should suffice.
I wouldn't put my house with imperial if it was over 300k. Otherwise it should be fine.

Where do u live? Is imperial really the best option?

I am buying a house next week in pville. Insuring about 200k. I was also quoted ASI and safeco. Asi was a little more than imperial but seemed to be about the same quality. Safeco was a descent bit more but seemed to be a little better.

With a 200k home I would feel ok with Imperial.

ASI is a stronger company if the price isn't that different.

I have had Progressive a long time for auto insurance. They have been unbelievable with any issue I have ever had. They handle things quickly. State Farm is ripping people off. I used to have them. I have USAA for home. They seem pretty good so far. I quoted USAA for Auto but Progressive beat them by around $800 per year. Progressive also sells homeowners. They are a good company but USAA beat them on homeowners. Get a quote from Progressive on Homeowners would be my advice.

Imperial will pay out, it will just take a little longer. If it is a storm like Katrina or Gustav, it will take a really long time. They don't nearly have enough adjusters to handle something like that. The adjusters they do have will be out of state independent adjusters and ones they hire and rush through training.

Read your policy, there will definitely be some things they don't cover you for that State Farm currently does. It will probably be coverages you don't care about, but just be aware.

Progressive is a good company. Good claims and good service. Steady rates.

Liberty Mutual is terrible on renewals. They go up by a lot every year for most customers. Their rates start off low and increase by a large margin each year.

I've had the same problem with them. They keep increasing the value of the house to keep up with "replacement cost" instead of the market value. I'm now over-insured by about 20%. If it gets any higher it might make sense to burn the place down.

I have ASI on house and Progressive on my car and my daughter's. Progressive has a program where they monitor your driving for 6 months and will give you a discount. I got about a 20% discount even though I'm a high mileage driver with a lead foot and I got at least 40% off her car because she lives within walking/biking distance of campus and her car sits in the parking lot most of the time. Worked out great! Also, no separate storm deductible on house for less than Shelter.

I did an on line quote yesterday seeing if I could save a few bucks. I been with State Farm well over 30 years and all the quotes I got couldn't beat State Farm for the same coverage.
