I can't believe what I just read in the TP. Peter Finney is a well respected writer, but this article doesn't make sense. Lee is our starter and I support him 100%. Any thoughts?

LSU needs JJ to contend? What are they doing now?
Pete needed something to write about and lost his way.

I know quite a few sports writers who never played a down and don't know crap.

Finney is getting really old-maybe he let Uncommon Cents write his column today.

JL didn't set the world on fire, but I saw an offense against a very highly ranked team that wasn't painful to watch. We have our QB so let's move on and quit spending time talking about the one that took himself off the field.

Whether we need JJ or not is a moot point now. BR is determined to prove they don't protect LSU football players. JJ is going to be tied up in an overly aggressive legal system in BR for a while.

I hope JJ gets fairly treated by the legal system. Time to move on with the players we have.

Oyster, good post!

JJ is getting hosed by the BRPD and it is a damn shame.

However, Jarrett Lee is now the QB; JJ will not be back this season. Let's watch (and support) #12 as he develops into a good QB and takes LSU back to Atlanta.

Can't say I agree with the article's basic premise. I think having JJ on the roster can help, but I think we can win if Lee plays at or near his best in most games.

On a side note, classy comments from the fans. JJ must love being from Louisiana.

JJ's running was necessary last year because the passing game ran mostly out of the spread. The threat to run helped keep the defense honest since he was less than effective as a passer. Assuming we stay with more of a play action passing game, his running doesn't provide a real benefit. And Lee is probably better at the types of throws he made Sat night.

Certainly he has better scrambling ability than Lee, but you really don't want the QB to have to scramble much anyway, provided you have a good o-line.

I mention legs because Jefferson last season did more crucial damage with his legs than with his arm in quarterbacking Les Miles' ballclub to an 11-2 record.
Too bad this didn't stop during the summer. He might be playing.

After reading that column, i think it's time for Finney to retire....he must be pushing 90 and this column shows it!!!!

I disagree that Mr. Jefferson will necessarily produce a better passing game. He has yet to do so. Boy, talk about controversy if he comes back...unless of course Mr. Lee is uninspiring.

I am happy for Lee

Sad for JJ

All I can say is, Les Miles had JJ as our starter for a reason...

so losing JJ has to hurt the team- no question in my mind about that..

what happens if Lee is injured? We win the West with a guy that has ZERO snaps in Div. 1 football?

2008 all over again

Peter Finney is starting to wright like yesterdays News:
We all know. If Peyton Manning had fast legs he would be a bigger threat.
Finney should retire.

Why does the author ay we need jj's legs to help the running game from Saturday?

Why woo our two hundred yard rushers need a mediocre runner to take snaps and cartes away from them
