Power went out just in the living room

Wifey decided to iron in the living room, and the power went out. Nothing was tripped on the circuit breaker. We unplugged everything and flipped the switch on the entire house, and it didn't come back on.

What could possibly be wrong?

Turn the circuit breaker for that room off and back on. Chances are it just didn't flip all the way.

The house just got tested. Not aids.

eta:
I flipped the breaker off than on for this room. It didn't work.

Not to hijack my own thread, but as I typed this post, a person who is not here just walked out my room and back in. I think I am about to be murdered by a ghost.

But pleas continue to offer advice on my power situation

Really? You can't see something that can pull 12 amps popping a 12 or 15 amp circuit?

If resetting the breakers doesn't work, turn off everything that's now not working like lights-TV-etc. Give it some time then try a light or TV.

Check t make sure no GFCI's are involved...in a bathroom or garage...sometimes things get wired funnily and they could be involved...

I hope that ghost is there all night...

Da frick?

Breaker could be bad. And check to see if it's a GFI like LCA said, but that would be very odd in a living room.

Details on ghost, plz.

Wouldn't a GFCI only knock out all the receptacles?

re: Power went out just in the living room

ok, so the ghost thing: I just walked through the entire house at the request(lulz) of the wife, and nobody was here, so I am pretty spooked right now.

For the electricity, The overhead lights and fan, tv, and all sockets are out. Also, I think the AC specifically in the living room and not in any other room, is out. That doesn't make sense to me. I don't understand the GFCI questions. What should I do?

eta: I think the AC is out in general, just hotter in the living room.

eta2: The bedroom door is at my 1 o'clock. As I am looking at the computer screen, I see a tall figure walk out the bedroom door, and then kind of drift back into the bedroom, no turn around. My body froze when I caught it out the corner of my eye. I looked up, saw nothing, ran into the room and saw nothing, and then my blood seemed to freeze (I assume that was the fear).

re: Power went out just in the living room

Sounds like your living room currently exists in a different dimension to me.

Go look for any outlets (probably in your bathrooms and/or outside) that have a T\est and Reset button on them, and hit the Reset button. That may fix it if it's a GFI issue. Other than that, turn all breakers off (all the way off) and back on just to make sure.
