Was the "witchhunt" LSU's own doing?

I thought about this tonight as I typed an email to my sister in Ohio, and I wonder if it was.

Our PD sure made it seem like a bad episode of CSI. I wonder if the administration pushed this? Consider: LSU is on probation, and everything is under the microscope. Also look at what happened to OSU. Well one thing can be said, nobody is covering up anything for LSU players here, not now. They made a point of DNA-swabbing our QB over a bar fight.Just asking, is this pre-emptive on LSU's part, to keep the heat away later on?

Can't rule it out. They are definitely being cautious with everything going on.

What happens to peoples' brains when they get behind a keyboard, and then sign into TD?

LSUPD has proven they are comparable to Reno911.

BRPD's investigation so far has been child's play.

What i would like to know is how Bobby Hebert can go on a Atlanta radio station and tell them with all the confidence in the world that Jordan Jefferson will never play a down of football for LSU again. Thiers a mole on the team that Miles trusted and this is very fishy to say the least. Remember the NEWS conference on Saturday which player was singled out by Miles. LSU knows the whole story and was trying to keep quiet about it why else would Jarrett Lee start geting 50% of the snaps all of a sudden on saturday. They know trust me on this.

Well, what if there were some wealthy alumni that were tired of JJ and felt they could flex some muscle to take advantage of this? Just being devils advocate!

i totally agree, but i don't understand what you are saying about lee. He was singled out by miles but lsu knows the whole story? Are you saying maybe there is someone giving info back to the lsu administration?

As they should be. This has been the most miserable offseason I have ever lived through.

It's getting to the point where no news would be good news until kickoff.

Wow, got a couple hostile/obnoxious replies in there, so I'm guessing someone didn't get what I was asking?

My whole point is, LSU is on probation now, and can't afford another slip-up at this time. Well, once the story of the fight came out, a bunch of folks jokingly (or not) suggested the hush-money was being solicited, and the "victims" would be taken care of so this story could quietly go away. Such a thing happening might get us sanctions rivaling USC right now.

So was it quieted down? Personal favor done between friends to make this go away? NOOO, the BRPD is showing ABSOLUTELY no favoritism here towards LSU; in fact most of us feel like the opposite. The fricking Chief of Police is holding press conferences like it's the biggest crime event of the decade; every step of the process is on the news.

What I'm wondering is whether this big song-and-dance is being put on for the benefit of the NCAA right now, to show LSU is in compliance and not wielding any undue/illegal influence in the case. It's not a huge leap to think it might, since it's the starting QB of a top 5 team whose arse is on the line, and despite our hopes that Lee will do fine, I think we all know Les had chosen JJ as his best chance going in. And btw from Les' conference yesterday, he sounded like he felt JJ was being hung out to dry and didn't really care too much for it. But again, even something as minor as, say, unsolicited preferential treatment might make the program go down hard right now, so SOMEONE is making sure JJ is getting no slack in this.

I'm in my 40s, and I clearly remember watching some pretty rough fights involving the team over at Sport's. A lineman once damn-near broke a pool table, using some poor jerk as a hammer, and we all wondered if he'd killed the guy (nope, the human body is tough). Never even made the Reveille, and the guy started his whole season. And btw I was happy he did, as we needed him that year.

Sorry man, I just don't buy into conspiracy theories, and think imagining/discussing them in a serious way is pretty stupid.

Yeah, I'm sure a few of you remember Kenny Mixon. Went to a party years ago with him and some guys and a fight broke out. Some opposing dude came running full speed around a car and, let me tell you, I've never seen someone get hit so hard. Mixon was winding up and the guy turned to face him right as the fist connected like a damn sledgehammer. I thought Mixon had killed him. The guy's momentum carried him forward probably 10 feet in the air and he nearly did a complete back flip. The first thing that hit the ground was the top of his forehead. Never seen anything like it before or since.
