Can I finish SG1 before watching Atlantis?

Potential spoilers....... (yeah I know this is an old series but I've had some shows ruined for me by clicking threads likes this)
I am on season 10 of SG1 and I've already picked up one spoiler about Atlantis. The episode I am on now is when they actually make it to Atlantis to visit. I stopped it soon as I realized what is happening. I have watched about 4 episodes from Atlantis, but haven't gotten in to it like SG1. I don't know if I'll watch it soon as I complete SG1, but I also don't want it spoiled in case I do.
TIA

I can't remember if it would ruin much of anything. I would hold off.
You will develop a taste for Atlantis. Rodney is good for a laugh or two per episode.
It took me a while to like Atlantis but I miss it now that the show is dead.
Don't waste a second on the show that must not be named or remembered which killed off all future star gate direct dvds.

This is all the same for me. The shows run congruently for the first couple of seasons of Atlantis, but I don't recall any big spoilers. Not 100% sure though. Atlantis takes its own path eventually.
Atlantis was meh at first to me, but it definitely grew on me. And by then end, I really liked it. There are a couple of really good story archs in the show. If you like SG1, stick with Atlantis, and I predict that you will eventually start liking it and the characters. I just think after 10 seasons of the SG1 group, it was hard to accept the new group. Plus, they had to develop their own chemistry. In the end, I wouldn't say I liked it just as much as SG1, but it was a good no. 2. I would still watch it if it was producing new episodes.
Edit: I said I would look it up, but not all of the episodes are on wiki, and a quick google search was unproductive. Sorry!

Well, take that edit back... kind of. Found this thread on a stargate forum (no spoilers):
Will I spoil SGA Season 1 if I watch SG1 Season 9 first?
Most post not really, only something minor if any. HOWEVER, one person said that
Nevermind turns out that after reading what was considered a spoiler, I wouldn't even consider it a spoiler.
I agree with this post:

There's a thing that happens at the end of SGA Season 1 that is pretty much rendered void if you watch Season 9.

I agree with this post:

For most of the seasons where SG-1 and SGA ran together neither one really did anything that would be a spoiler by watching 1 SG-1 with another SGA season except for a few minor things.

Thanks. I knew enough about Atlantis to catch the spoiler in Season 9 of SG1. I can live with that.
