any tips for asking a professor to let you into their class?? (edited)

ETA: there are no waitlists at UF, and two spots just opened up through the system. I went to register, but apparently I don't have the pre-reqs for this course. So my question changes from how to get into a full class, to "how to get into a class I don't have the pre-req for). This is only a 4000 level class and this is my last semester of undergrad. Anyone have experience doing something like this? I just emailed the professor and the department's advising office.....guess I'll still show up tomorrow and attend as well......

I usually e-mailed them before, letting them know I was attending. Then, after class, would walk up, introduce myself, and ask what I could do to be manually added.

but I plan on just showing up tomorrow morning, attending the class, and asking the professor afterwards if he/she can add me if a spot doesn't open up. Any specific things I should say?

I offered to sit on the floor until a spot opened up (Calc 2) . It worked, a spot opened up, all was well.

What number are you on the waitlist? If you're top 5 they usually let you in. Also, go talk to the professor because if people don't show up the first day, they usually purge the absent ones to open up more spaces.

I seriously can't believe we have people who can't figure out how to ask a professor if he can take his class

Is technology to blame for this? Lack of conversational skills attributed to the lack of face to face social connections?
