Me and 3 buddies of mine are staying at the Park Inn in Irving. I know there is a Hooters within walking distance, but is there any place we need to check out? 1st trip to Dallas for all of us, and we want to have a great time.

There isn't much in that part of Irving. That Hooter's is one of the strangest locations and less "talented" than your average one. There is a Cool River in the Las Colinas part of Irving.. popular amongst the upwardly mobile set. If you like Hooter's, do yourself a favor and go instead to the Bone Daddy's up the road in Grapevine, if that's your flavor.
There are also some nightspots in the Southlake town center heading further in the same direction.
But my advice for anyone wanting to see Dallas nightlife and the better restaurants is to just make the drive to uptown/west village. Others will disagree, but that area is the face of Dallas these days.

How is Fort Worth? We have a hotel in the Sundance Square area. Looks to be only about 20 min. from the stadium.
Any recommendations? TIA

Sundance square is a good spot. Ft. Worth has plenty to do. Go over to the Stockyards to check out the Cowboy Kitsch. Great mexican at El Asedaro near the stockyard. No matter what anybody says, don't eat at Joe T. Garcias. It's ok for a margarita, but the food is avg. Then go to the White Elephant Saloon for a beer.

I will be staying at the Park Inn in Irving too. And BTW - you cant walk to the Hooters....its across the freeway. I lived there for 20 years. That Hooters is ok.
Not alot to do in Irving but eat. No bars or clubs.
Cool River is about 10 minutes from there. A good place to hang.

Thanks for the suggestions!!
Is it feasible to catch a cab to and from Cowboy Stadium? With all of the festivities going on that weekend, I don't think we should be behind the wheel.

Its gonna be about 30 or 40 dollars to the stadium. But good luck getting one back to Irving. Rent a limo. Arrive in style!

That I don't know. I'm sure you can get there....or close, but I'm not sure you can flag a cab after the game.

Passenger Drop-Off & Pick-Up Zones
There are two passenger drop-off zones at the stadium. One is located on the North side of Randol Mill Road in Lot 1 and the other is located on the South side off of Cowboys Way in Lot 6. Due to post event traffic, these areas may not be accessible for pick up. Guests may use the Accessibility Shuttle serving all Cowboys Stadium parking lots.
There is one area that is a passenger pick-up zone at the stadium. It is located at the entrance to the AT&T Plaza adjacent to North Collins Avenue and Cowboys Way. Taxis are also staged at this location for drop off pre-event and pick up post-event.

Hey Dallas Tiger - what is the deal with parking at the Walmart in Arlington.
I moved away about the time the stadium opened. So what do they do about that?

I have no idea. I'm guessing they don't let you park for free.

Check out Cooper's BBQ! I haven't actually been to that one but the ones in central Texas are allsome. True Texas BBQ. Something lacking in DFW.
I actually like Joe T's. The patio scene is great on the weekends and to say it's a large patio is understating - it's like a city block. There is live music and a good patio at Fred's too. Hopefully we'll get below 100 by then but it's not looking good. Y'all have a good time and please don't drive drunk the wrong way on our freeways.

I have always wondered why you couldnt go shopping 1st.......and then walk across the street!
To park for "free"....I would go buy some toilet paper and chips!!

Spotters. Most places in entertainment/ bar zones in Dallas have spotters on the roof. If they see you try to pull that, say bye to your car. Lincoln Square mall down the street does let you park there if you spend $40 at one of their stores or restaurants at the mall. You just put your receipt on the dash of your car.
