The ACC's role in expansion

It is tough to get a read on this group. I thought at some point the sec would raid them to fill up to 16, but now based on various political factors and the sentiments of uf, uga, and school, this may not be the case.
It is difficult for me to envision a 16 team sec without any adding any current ACC team

Because the SEC would add about 2 or 3 of them

It does appear the ACC is pretty tight. Even NC State (which will always be the third wheel behind UNC and Duke) doesn't seem to want to leave.
Looks like they've learned well from both the SEC (good example of unity) and the Big 12-2 (bad example).

Which two or three? do you think the Florida, Georgia, and south Carolina issues are overblown? Or that the Virginia and north Carolina politics wont play as big of a role as some people have suggested on here?

I'd love to see UNC in the SEC. Academic/basketball upgrade, natural rivalry with South Carolina, 9.5M residents. But it simply won't happen.
The ACC schools, I believe, would rather be basketball > football and have more interest in a conference with Georgetown, Connecticutt, Syracuse, etc. than in joining the SEC.
UNC, Duke, NC State, and Wake Forest aren't leaving each other and the Tobacco Road basketball tradition will mold that conference's future.
Then you'll have a few outliers like Georgia Tech and potentially VT and Miami that don't fit the mold. Clemson too if they don't get in the SEC.

I still don't get why UF doesn't want FSU in the SEC.
1. They already recruit against them.
2. It would force FSU to play a more brutal schedule if they were in the SEC.
3. And if FSU is always good (with a few hiccups like last 4 years), then the rest of the SEC can lose a game or two to FSU.
What am i missing?

Say TX A&M comes over to the SEC, do you think they'd want TX to join the SEC too?
UF is only FL school in SEC and they want to keep it that way.

If the SEC wants FSU, then the SEC will get them. UF's opinion won't matter. What are they gonna do, leave and join the ACC?

We stand united. Stop poaching

Easy to say after you heavily poached the Big East...

They did not stand united.

Then as you don't have a problem with poaching, we'll have to see how united you really are.

To be truthful, I can see why the SEC would not want to poach the ACC. In most BCS voting it is the SEC, ACC, and Big East voting against the Big-X, PAC-12, and Big-12. If the Big-12 collapses the power shifts to the SEC side. So personally, I'd like to see us grab A&M, OU, OSU, and Mizzou. Of course if we do, the Big-X is going to go grab Pitt, Syracuse, and Rutgers and destroy the Big East.

I imagine it's bending over, grabbing their ankles.
Which is better than the Big East's role...

If no ACC team is available you have WVU and Aggies. likely only go to 14.
WVU does deliver a lot of the Pittsburgh market and a slice of the DC market. In fact WVU scheduled a home game in DC next year to prove it.

I thought it was crazy at first, but if no ACC team is available, then the somewhat realistic best candidates for the SEC would be
1. A&M
2. Missouri
3. WVU
4. Louisville?

I have to admit that while I like the idea of A&M joing, WVU or any other BE team for that matter, really doesn't do it for me.
But then I look at conference re-alignmnet strictly interms of matchups/rivalries and not so much marketability.
I want FSU, GTech, or Clemson (maybe Vtech)- in that order. If we can't get any one of those, I'd just as soon not take A&M than settle for a team that I don't think matches up well in the SEC.

Watch out for the ACC. With all the hype they may strike first! Add the state of Ky, Ky-Louisville-WstrnKy (yes the latter is now D-1) & West VA. Nice geographic fit & the first 16 team "Super Conference ".
Gotta think the SEC would not skip a beat, just move on.
Big East would have to scramble.
Sunbelt - who cares.

For frick sake, did you say WKU? They were 1AA five or so years ago.
And Louisville? Where you going to say Cincinatti, next?
