What would we gain from A&M joining the West?

A larger T.V. market (Dallas and Houston), which in turn brings in a lot more money. It may not have happened yet, but it's going to happen eventually.

The only reason its not happening is b/c the scheduling alignment would be messed up with 13 teams. They need 2 or 4 to join before anything of real significance can happen. Its probably going to happen in the upcoming years b/c it looks like if the NCAA can get 4 big conference of 16 teams, then they can discuss a try playoff system w/ 64 teams in the mix.

Little schools will be left out in the cold when that happens.

Wrong. It's not all about doing everything to win in ONE sport if you're going to have warts.

The problem is the ones the SEC wants do not want the SEC. OU and UT. The ones who do want the SEC, Mizzou and aTm aren't needed.

Yeah, Superconferences aren't forming.

We're still a few years away from the BCS conferences all having 12 teams.

Now is not the time to go to 14. Nobody else is.

It's kind of like the start of WWI (bare with me).

It's not like anyone wanted to fight in WWI, but all the treaties and the complications of international relations back then meant that once one Austrian got offed, everyone entered a war that resulted in chemical and trench warfare.

Bringing it back to conference expansion... most conferences are either happy where they are, or are as good as they'll get, but the landscape and the mere possibility of a conference expanding has scared them all into being proactive in scooping up teams.

I don't want them either...I'd rather LSU have the SEC pipeline into Texas personally. I'd rather add FSU and Clemson/Ga Tech

I agree. The SEC doesn't NEED this.

Gee, I wonder why you would want FSU but not aTm.

because it's ACTUALLY IN the direct center of the SEC, right down 1-10? It's more centrally located in the SEC than UF is. And because my brother in law would be really pissed.

More money

We could drop you and add them.

I mean when you think about it, does the SEC really need both of the big Mississippi programs?

We need to dump Vandy as well. I know people will ask about the academics, but we are an athletic conference, not a nerd conference.
