campgrounds on gulf coast
Posted by tigeralum06 on 8/11/11 at 1:09 pm00
Does anyone have any suggestions on campgrounds near nola that are accessible by truck? Im hoping for rural camping and some water access for swimming and/or fishing.
I am a complete novice.
Thanks for your help experts.

Buccaneer State Park is on the beach in Bay St Louis.
McLeod Water Park is on the Jourdan River in the Kiln. Both are right when you pass over into Mississippi. Research them to see which one fits better for your family.

Buccaneer Bay Waterpark and pools are CLOSED and are under construction!
That is completely irrelevant. The pool was a monstrosity wave pool and the waterpark was a big dumb slide (I never saw them in operation and I've been around here for about 8 years). They have a huge playground, a giant campground, frisbee golf course, and the gulf right across the street (but I would drive towards Waveland a bit and set up on a 'nice' beach).

I was just saying they imply it was Katrina that devastated those amenities, when they were junked long before that. I know the campground is open, they have a really nice playground and pavilion, and the frisbee golf course is open.
What existed before the storm, what draws people to the park, is even better now.
