Do you shoot with one eye closed or both eyes open? I have always shot with one eye closed and feel I am pretty accurate out to 45yds. Yesterday I tried shooting with both eyes open & I could not believe it improved my groups.

How do you shoot?

One eye closed.

I have never tried having both eyes open.

Tried both open. Doesn't work for me. I use a No-peep, and that may have something to do with it.

one eye closed but I should try with both open.

A neat trick I learned about paper tuning and short range tuning your bow, try shooting with no eyes open if you just cant seem to get it tuned right. You will be surprised how much error you are creating by trying to correct the bow yourslef.

Mapguy, I know the Sgt involved in training those dolphins in your avi.

It felt EXTREMELY odd for the first 10-15 shots. Then I found I was able to get on target quicker & was more accurate.

Usually, both eyes open.
I find that it gives me a better view of the target. It did improve my accuracy at close range. I will still shoot with just one eye open, but it's usually when shooting longer distances.

I decided to try both eyes with the bow after I tried it with a scope on a rifle. I was amazed how quickly I could locate a target, both at close and long range. It didn't make any difference with rifle accuracy. So, I still like to shoot the rifle with one eye closed. Old habits die hard I guess.

Find out what works with you and go with it.

I might give it a try, but even with shotguns I just cant seem to be accurate with both eyes open as much I am with closing my non dominate eye.

4x4---- I am the same way with a shotgun. I can not shoot with both eyes open. I am not telling everyone to go out & start shooting with both eyes open. It is just something I know some people do so I thought I would try. I was just amazed by the results.

I'm not knocking your results, in fact when I get home I'm gonna go try it. Gotta test out the new quickfletch fletchings I picked up yesterday from Academy.

I want one.

What do I need to do to get a laser wielding dolphin?

both eyes open. Maybe that's why no-peep did not work for me.

I don't think you ever had it installed properly.

I think you will have to talk to the DOD for that one.

he is an Army Veterinarian, although he may have be promoted past Sgt. by now. He really is a hell of a guy and one of the smartest people I have ever met.

I am the exact opposite. I can't shoot a shotgun with only one eye. Not to mention, keep both eyes open helps me acquire the next target faster.

I'm not really a bird hunter and shooting shotguns at skeet was usually only one at a time so I never had to acquire my next target quickly. I guesss that's why I never learned to shoot with both open.
