A 2nd job would be brutal. What about moving into admins?

Is this a short term problem? If so, just get a job delivering pizzas at night or be a waiter somewhere. If you need more money over the long haul then I would switch careers or tell your wife to get a job.

Might be a little late in the year, but you can make good money as a umpire. You set your own hours, you can work as much as you want, plus it fits in perfect with your teaching job.

Good luck man. Try to trim your expenses down for now. Hopefully you will find something.

This but not just umpire. Other sports as well. If you are a teacher and a coach you already work more than one job. You'd have to work around the sport you coach but it can be done. You may well be ahead of the learning curve of other first year officials.

I coach football so my hours vary right now. But I am open for any ideas. I am a hard worker and dedicated to whatever I am doing. Feel like I could be an asset in any capacity. Thanks again.

If you are a football coach and looking for extra work during the season, you do not need to tell me you are a hard worker. Looks like you have Saturday and Sunday available, I would look in retail, security, hospitals, for some part time work. Also as you have already hinted, it may be time for a career change, not sure where you are located but look into petrochem plants, hiring is slow but keep your name in the hat for any possibilities.

apply at Exxon they love to hire teachers- it will be shift work, hard work and 12 months a year but good pay, great benefits-

The real question is what do you want to do with your life?

Never take a job based on money alone

If you are a teacher and a coach I would say you should get some kind of summer job.

Also as weird as this is going to sound, pick up a couple of yards around the neighborhood to cut would be another after hours option.

I also know someone that got his real estate license who just so happens to be a teacher also. The guy lives in a 350K house so I know he is doing pretty well with the real estate thing.

You might have to give up coaching. I know they only throw you like $1,500-$2,000 extra so if you want to have a little more cheese you might want to consider giving it up to pursue something else after 2:30pm.

Career change I would say jump into sales. They like former coaches.

Good luck!

I really appreciate the info. Have thought about the real estate gig, and the lawn care. Problem is I have been in this career for awhile. Forty years old, so that make it difficult to just change career paths, but I think I have to look at it. Thanks again.

One of the football coaches at my high school delivered newspapers in the early morning for extra cash. Not sure if that could work for you.

I would officiate...I made good tax free $$$ through college doing this.

Middle School football games in my hometown were all day saturday and they got paid like $15/game.

Do that and some slow pitch softball or something on Sunday's...

What about invest some $$ in a snoball stand? Keep it open in the Summer, while you are not teaching. It's a cash business so you should be able to make some pretty good bank. Once it gets up and running, hire a highschool kid to work it.
