By the time Victor signs, Trent will either be gone or have the program turned around. There is no reason to worry about him now.

Alright, you don't have to believe me. Yall are reading recruiting sites when I'm actually talking to some of these kids face to face. Most of the elite talent coming up in LA doesn't have faith in Trent that he'll turn the program around or that he can develop them for the next level.

Just FYI for the board, Victor picked up a Duke offer two weeks ago while playing at the Adidas AAU Tourney in Indy.

I wish he was the guy that Coach K called and wound up committing a possible violation as a result.

why are you wishing that? at these national AAU events college coaches offer scholarships all the time.

OK. Why don't you give us some insight into why the kids feel this way? I mean since you're such an insider. Is it because they don't like him personally or they don't believe he can make them better players?

He hasn't signed yet, but if TJ cant flip him before he signs he may as well turn in his resignation if he doesnt make a tournament this year.

When a player of Gathers' caliber comes along you KEEP HIM IN STATE no questions asked. This is basketball, not football, where 1 player makes a big difference. Straight up embarrassing a kid of this caliber wants to go to a crap Big East team over us. Says a lot about the COACH.

Playing in Madison Square Garden is very appealing, I suppose.

St. Johns will be very good in a couple years, and pretty decent this year. Lavin loaded up in the 2011 class.

Since he's given his commitment already I don't see why he wouldn't sign in the early signing period and there's not much that can be done from now to early November to flip him unless Trent goes Pete Bell. It's not like local pressure will be weighing on him. Everybody knows our team sucks so no one will begrudge him for leaving.

I have been a TJ supporter but if he can't lock up guys like Gathers he needs to hit the road.

So if we make the tourney this year, we should still fire him?

6'7 PF who shoots 50% from the free throw line... No way this kid finishes in the top 50 this season. Isn't growing, has short arms and still hasn't improved his jump shot. For whomever said Rico > JOB. You're smoking something.

Let's be honest. LSU's poorly suppoted BB team with a two thirds empty PMAC most of the time, the SEC BB with only Kentucky as a dynamic environment, compared with the Big East glamor, national TV exposure, and playing in a league with sold out arena's with some home games in Madison Square Garden is a regrettable but understandable choice for the kid.

Clearly you haven't been reading the recruiting reports from every AAU tournament he's been at. They tout him as the manchild who averages like 15 points and 15 rebounds in every tournament. They expect him to make a difference in college because of his big body and work ethic.

i mean i don't know TJ personally, but i can tell you that he doesn't come off in a way that appeals to most high profile BB recruits

and i don't think he's dirty in recruiting, which hurts a ton

no flash, no track record, horrible seasons, and no dirty recruiting leaves you asking why anybody would want to go play for TJ

We need Shaq to come and coach. Guarantee he would keep LA talent in state. If not Shaq, let's bury the hatchet and get Johnny Jones in.

i think gathers will be a solid guy in college who may develop into a beast...in college

plenty of 6-6 4s have done really well in college

however, while gathers is likely better than JOB, it is a redundant position. having both means we only have 1 of them, so this is more of a PR loss than anything, imho

we need much better guards

Trent doesn't need those one and done players

Who are the one and done players that should have been playing at LSU since Johnson has been at LSU? Who did LSU not recruit that it should have? Please tell me what LSU's roster would have looked like had LSU hired someone else as coach that would have made LSU a contender for the NCAA Tournament.

There hasn't been a Louisiana high school player of that talent level since Monroe, and he was gone before Johnson got hired. What has LSU got that it can go into other states and attract one and done type players when it has had trouble keeping those kids when they are from Louisiana high schools?
