A particular subset that drives me bonkers is the Nazi occult, man those guys are everywhere. Will this trend ever stop, and can anyone ever equal the ubiquitous nature of hatred and portrayal of evil the nazi's have been handed? (deservingly so, but I'm kind of tired of seeing and/or hearing about some scheme the nazi's might have cooked up as the basis for your plot)

Got an idea for a scary movie but need some way to create a setting? Ooo, ooo, an old nazi castle.

Got an idea for a scary movie but the bad guy just isn't quite scary enough? Oh, I know, he was a Nazi. Not good enough you say? Oh, even better, he was a secret Nazi occultist!

Got a tearful drama that will wrench the hearts of all the viewers, but something just ins't quite making it sad enough? Perhaps a concentration camp story and a boy in pajamas?

Biking through Europe? Nazi's.

Your main character can read minds, you say? Where'd he learn that? Oh right, the Nazi's did it first. Got it...

War movie? Well, duh, Nazi's...

I am in no way a Nazi sympathizer okay...but its just a tired theme don't you think? Is there any bigger cliche' though?

Lars von Trier got canned at Cannes for basically breaching the same argument, only he did it sarcastically and was maligned.

It would be interesting to see a movie that is empathetic toward Nazis, kind of like Michael Haneke's amazing The White Ribbon but in a more direct light.

Yeah. I kinda see what you're saying but they were so evil and interesting and had such far-reaching influence and such a huge impact on world history that it's almost justified.

I think a more common cliche that I think is way more played out and covers a much more shallow and boring subject is your standard middle eastern terrorist guy movie villain. And I'm not talking about movies that try to explore the psyche of the terrorist. I mean the plain-ol "arab guy's got a bomb and he's gonna blow up some infidels" thing.

it's that Jew-run media. Holocaust films will always get you an Oscar, or whatever award you're going for.

This short film won some short film award recently.

The one Ay-rab in Hurt Locker was pretty good.

I see your Nazi and raise you the "ubiquitous" Evil Englishman. Hollywood has been in the thrall of dastardly British fiends for decades. I'm sure they outweigh your Nazis upon further inspection.

Communists can give the Nazi's a run for there money in the bad guy theme. If you include the typical Russian, Cuban, Chinese, Korean commys...only problem with Nazi as bad guys, you are kind of limited with your dates, to a degree

Hah. Good point. The Nazi's have got the villian trifecta going for them:

1) Evil and sleezy;
2) They got their asses kicked so bad that there aren't many of them around to bemoan their portrayal;
3) Snappy dressers.

I dont think anyone would be too concerned about the feelings of outspoken Nazis...but i do see your point

And i dont think hollywood could actually make them look worse. that would be a hell of a movie if people came away saying, "I know the nazis were evil, but i didn't think they were that bad!"

You really have to go places with a movie you probably don't want to go. Think Passion of the Christ with little more than torture for 2 hours but set in a camp, and depicting EVERYTHING. Would be brutal.

Unless of course the Nazis are Argentinians descended from Nazis that came there after the war.

I think the much more played out, lame, cliched and PC villians are the Russian mob and the evil US Govt agent.

The Nazis history speaks for itself and what more resembles something that actually happened, The Seige, Executive Decision or Air Force One?
