We are debating about where we should eat out over the next 3 nights in Gulf shores. There are 4 adults and 3 kids(10,15,15) on the trip.

Where should we eat?

What should we order?

Thanks in advance!

True. I have eaten at some decent places in GS, but none that really impressed me. I'm really not that big of a fan of GS in general and I've already been twice this year
Oh well, there are worse places to be...

We struggled to find anywhere that was a "must eat" place that would keep our business year-after-year. Still haven't found one. Lucy's is just OK and Tacky Jack's is decent but nothing terribly special either.

If you are up for a little road trip of maybe 30-35 minutes, I suggest you try Jesse's in Magnolia Springs. Very good and well worth the drive. Fried green tomatoes and sauteed crab claws for apps. Salads good. Steaks or seafood for entrees. This place is so much better than the places in Gulf Shores.

King Neptune's is fun. Go for the food and not the scenery. Great royal reds.

I'm nostalgic and always go to Sea and Suds for oysters and either sit at the bar or on the pier and watch the waves. I've known the owner's and just about everybody that works there for 18 years.

Ribs and Reds is pretty good.

Cobalt is good if you drive down to Orange Beach.

Most restaurants down there offer the same fare and it's about equal quality.

I lived down there for 6 months out of every year of my life until I was 18. But the family has since moved the family home down to O.B so I'm not as familiar with the places as I used to be.

Ate at Big O's on Monday while down there on vacation. Small place and it was pretty good for a light meal. I had a soft shell crab po-boy. They supposedly have a pretty good breakfast also.

Nolan's for steaks.

Mikee's for seafood.

Cafe Grazie in OB for Italian Seafood. They have a roasted garlic bread service that is amazing.

Rotolo's for pizza (seriously-there is nothing in the area for pizza).

Cozmo's in OB is the best restaurant in the area, but there is always an hr and a half wait.

No good mexican (go figure).

We ate at Bubba's Seafood House in Orange Beach. Originally we headed towards The Hangout but after finding out we had a 3 hour wait ahead of us we decided we needed to make a move. We called Cozmo's and they had a two hour wait, we called Lulu's and was nearly the same. So sitting with my 4 month old in hand we had to make a decision quick so I decided we were just going to ride and find the nearest joint. That turned into going all the way to orange beach because every restuarant had a wait out of the door.

So we pulled up to this little place and there was an hour wait. We made the decision to wait it out or face the reality of a ham and cheese sandwich. My my brother in law and I went over to the bar looking for some good cold draft beer but there was nothing on tap so we got a couple of corona's. Bar had quick and great service. Two beers $7.50 please. Not to bad.

To our surprise we were buzzed at around 10 minutes. During those 10 minutes my brother in law and I were lucky enough to have 4-5 different hot 30-40 year old women pass us by so the wait actually can be reduced to about 3 minutes guy time. We were kind of enjoying it. lol The waiter immediately greeted us and got us all beverages quickly and we ordered the oysters. The oysters was probably the worst thing we all got there because they were not salty. As for the entrees we ordered shrimp poboy, crab cakes(big and awesome),2 fried shrimp platter, shrimp skewers, and I had the "world famous crab legs". lol I love it how every place here has something "world famous" .

To avoid this getting to much longer then what it already is I will tell you this place for the situation was actually pretty dam good. The decor is a little rinky dink but the food was great and the service was awesome. Our beers were never in danger of running out, the kitchen was quick and our waiter was even quicker.

So if you are ever looking for a last minute eat I would recommend Bubba's Beach House in Orange Beach if all the other famous joints are jammed packed.

We are going eat out again on Saturday. The plan is to get out a little earlier so we can actually get a table. We are thinking either Lulu's, The Hangout or Cosmo's because the wives are dying to eat at one of these 3 for some reason.

Signing off before heading to the beach to:

Yes I know its 9am.

See a lot of threads asking this question. We were in gulf shores before the 4th. Seems like every place we ate at had basically the same menu and cooked everything the same. Close your eyes and point.

I did see a louisiana lagniappe there but the prices looked to be about $10 higher than b.r.

Last year I cooked 5 out of the 6 days we were there. This year I cooked jambalaya one day and that was it. the "group" wanted to eat out so....we did. I intend to avoid the area for a few years.
