Underrated
quote:

4. LSU S Brandon Taylor: When the Tigers lost Taylor to that ankle injury in the Alabama game last season, they were never quite the same defensively. LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis said Taylor adds a presence to the LSU secondary that’s irreplaceable. The 6-foot, 195-pound senior was also selected to wear No. 18 this season, which is one of the Tigers’ top honors as a player.

Nice to see Brandon Taylor getting some recognition.

Eh. Not sure if I would go that far. He has also taken his fair share of bad angles that have burned us in the past as well.

So has every player to ever play the position.

Its not saying he is an all american, just that he brings soemthing that the younger guys don't.

Also, had he been available for the Arkansas game, I think we would have been playing in the sugar bowl.

What safety hasnt? There's no question we are a hellva lot better with Taylor in there. Also Taylor was always making plays around and behind the line.

I think Reid might be better than him not too far into the season.

True. I dont think anyone else makes the 2 bad plays that Hatcher did. We still needed to capitalize on offense in the 2nd half when we got it 3 times in a row in their territory but that's a different discussion.

really? didn't he miss the tackle (or at least take bad angles) on Julio's screen and run in 09, and McCalebb's long TD run last yr?

BT's solid, experienced and knows what to do/ where to be, but he makes mistakes now and then.

He is. Not a great player but good. I think he is not underrated and rated exactly where he should be is all.

If you play DB, you will eventually get beat. It comes with the position. See PP7 vs Julio and T-Rex vs Arkansas.

Besides, the Chief has spoken.

Great read.

Yep, Taylor is not only the key figure in our secondary; but he's the key figure in our entire defense. He was an outstanding cornerback coming out of high school, which provides him with far better ball skills than any of the true safeties LSU has had recently (like Landry, Jones, Loston, or Reid).

It's a great feeling of comfort knowing he is on the field at all times.

Here we go again. A rantard remembers one or two plays and they think it defines a player's career. I said it before last year that I thought Taylor was a underrated player in our secondary. You seen what happened in the Arkansas game last year because he wasn't there?

Taylor was very solid in all phases last year. He still has another year to go in development too, so no telling how much better he'll get. He improved last year for sure.

this is all i was trying to say. didnt say he would have more pics than steltz or deliver the bang of landry. his consistency seems like it would have him as the big brother for that secondary.
