I honestly just hate the look of the new Dodge trucks. The fords look wayyy better IMO.

Why worry its covered for 5 year / 100k

I agree with this as long as you did not add a chip and DPF delete let the warranty cover it. With that said, as soon as mine hits 100k or 5 years, it will defenatly get the works

That and the fact they are cranking out 700+ tq from these motors from the factory now. If it doesn't hurt the longevity of the engine, it will be sure to kill a few transmissions.

I never even thought to consider the added power as a factor, good point there. I just don't think in ~10 years or so you'll hear stories of high mileage 6.0s, 6.4s, or even 6.7s that have just seen minimal repairs. I could be wrong though.

I had an 05 6.0 and never had any trouble until I paid it off and my warranty expired (after 100,000 miles). After that 5th year(last year), I put $7200 in to it. First time it was the high pressure oil pump and it just killed on the highway and wouldn't start. Next time it was the EGR cooler. It was a slow leak at first and I just kept adding water until one day the coolant all came out at once on the interstate and I overheated quick. Got it fixed and no head damage according to that ford dealership. A year later EGR cooler problems again and head gasket and head problems. Traded it in and got a 2011 F-150. It would have been $6,000+ if I would have fixed it so that would have been $13,000+ invested into it in 2 years. It also had only 113,000 miles on it.

On a side note, my brother has the 6.4 and he has around 100,000 miles on it and no problems yet.

Sounds like Ford was monitoring your ECU and hit the self destruct button as soon as your warranty expired

That's how mine started out. For the longest I thought it was a radiator leak.

I posted earlier in this thread that my 06 PSD is fine with 50K miles on it. My warranty is up in october and also it will be paid off. Im planning to bite the bullet and have the cab removed and going the way of the outlaw from that point on.

I have called Powerstroke Magic in Houston and was qouted a price of 4K to do all the work I want done. That 4K is only good if I drive the Truck in....If it breaks before then it could be more damage and therefore more money.

EGR Bypass
ARP Head Studs
Head Gaskets
Coolant Flush
I will also prolly also spend more on a Tuner
4"Cat delete Turbo back exhaust.

I have yet to put on my coolant bypass filter that I have
and I will get the Oil Bypass Filter System as well.

Its a damn shame that I have to do all this crap to a $50K Truck. I blame the govt. and Ford.

That's what burns my arse more than anything. The old 7.3 stroke and 5.9 cummins could be had with a manual tranny 4x4 truck for around 30k and could be driven at 22 mpg until the truck fell apart around the motor and transmission. These days, a diesel does good to get over 18 mpg, costs 50k, has a shitload of problems, can't be had with a manual tranny (except dodge), cranks out a bazillion ft lbs of torque, and still isn't as good as the old raw raw's IMO.

If you're lucky. I was on a Ford lot a few months back. A loaded out F250 4x4 was $65k+
