Do we have some sort of contract with this logo? If so how long do we have to keep it? If not, do we have a certian cycle or what?

its really up to the athletic department and marketing... im suprised they havent heard enough complaining yet. i personally hate the current logo.

this is what we should go back to (or a slightly updated version)

Nope...Not slightly updated. That one is fine.

I think the athletic department has responded to some of the criticism on toonces. They said that it was just a small percentage of the fan base that did not like it. Also used the fact that sales in LSU merchandise had gone up a good bit since it's release. That has zero to do with the logo and more so to do with the fact that they started winning more football games.

Bottom line...whether we like it or not, it's not going anywhere anytime soon. It would take a much larger out cry from the fans. And as big and popular as this site is, the majority of the LSU fan base DOES NOT post here (which is where most of the criticism is).

Yep. Thankfully more and more stuff is coming with the eye of the tiger logo, which is much better IMO.

It is much better, yes, but still not that great.

agree totally....I don't particularly like toonces on shirts, etc.....but have to say, it looks fairly distinctive on tv, etc...

Agreed. I like a lot of the older logos better, but as said before, it's a big improvement over toonces.

I think I remember us paying a large sum of money to some firm in New York to design the current logo. Just on the surface that sounds stupid. If they wanted to change the logo so bad they should have opened it up to the public to submit designs. Winner gets 10K and 2 lifetime season tickets to football games. Would have saved a couple hundred K.

Unless you shop for LSU gear at Albertsons or Walmart.. NON-"Toonces" gear is abundantly available and easy to find.

Although I prefer not to, but if I recieved a gift that had the toonces head only logo, I could tolerate having and wearing it.
What I will not tolerate and I've made it perfectly clear to my family and friends that I will not wear anything with the toonces with the hurricane looking thing.

Tbh I have no toonces gear except a t shirt or two that someone had given me. I don't like seeing it as a representation of LSU. Something as small as NCAA football game with it as the team logo kind of irks me in a small way.

All LSU merchandise should have Popeye Mike on it. No exceptions.

The "popeye" design makes me think of Auburn more than LSU

I think our LOGO should just be "LSU" in the Geaux Font.

I think you all should stop bitching. It's LSU. It's our logo.

I personally never even knew there was a problem with the logo, until this damn place. It's fine.
