Can LSU Stake Claim At Greatest Ever??

Q: When was the last time an undefeated NCAA football champion had 2 wins against ranked out-of-conference opponents in the regular season?

A: 1994 Nebraska Cornhuskers with early-season wins over #24 West Virginia (who finished the season 7-6) and #13 UCLA (finished 5-6).
If you guessed 2001 Miami or 1999 FSU, you technically got the answer correct. They each had wins over Florida and each other in their respective championship seasons. I excluded them in the answer since they are now in the same conference.
Bottom line is this: If LSU can win out in 2011, they will have traversed the most arduous schedule of any champ in the history of college football. As if today's SEC is not competitive enough, LSU will have claimed wins over last season's PAC-10 champ, Oregon, and Big East contender, West Virginia. And they will have achieved all of this with only 6 home games.

Wouldn't it be better to win all our games and then speculate on the all time superlatives? I remember OU in 2003 was being touted as a team for the ages, until they took two beatings.
If we can beat both Oregon and WVU, I will think it was shrewd scheduling and gives us an edge in case we drop a game in conference. If we drop either (or somehow both), I'll be complaining along with everyone else on here. As for running the table in conference, I'll just be hopeful at this point. It would certainly be sweet.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. This thread has shades of ESPN's coronation of 2005 USC as the "BEST F'ING TEAM EVER ZOMG" (paraphrasing, of course). We all know where that got USC that year.
