The Advocate not advocating Red Lobster?

Just got back in town and I'm surprised to not find a 726-page thread resulting from today's restaurant review of Red Lobster.
Review
While on the surface it's the usual "there were a lot of customers and we were served lots of food" boilerplate, a little deconstruction shows it to be -- at least by the apparent standards shown by other advertiser-friendly Advocate reviews -- a withering critique.
Some pull-quotes:
the small inside waiting area was full
The clam strips were small
small mushrooms did not have a lot of seasoning
lobster tail was smaller than we thought it would be
grilled shrimp, while not what we would call jumbo
These shrimp were mushy
wild rice (which didn’t have much taste)
mashed potatoes which were on the plain-tasting side
the oysters were small and the breading was unseasoned
The grilled shrimp were also small
restaurant running out of our first dessert choice
Neither dessert was a shining star
-- and the pièce de résistance:
we couldn’t help but look at the longtime Baton Rouge seafood restaurant across the street and make a note to go back there really soon.
----
Wow, maybe there's hope.

That they would even review RL is a fricking joke.

This. I haven't eaten there and I could have written that SAME FRICKING REVIEW

I haven't been there in years, but doesn't that place get a lot of hate on here too?

on here it does but I've had some business lunch/dinners at Ralph's in the last year and it's not anywhere near as bad as the foodie snobs seem to act

And of course the Cheddar Bay biscuits were great.

Queue the obligatory "They just opened, I'll give them a couple months to get things organized" post?

I cannot imagine the actual amount of suck that garnered this "scathing" review.
If R&K would try just a little hard, they might could get some RL overflow and get back on track. That would be wonderful. A local place overcoming the evil chain. Plus, I am sad when I remember the R&K of the past.

Not thank R & K's is a top seafood restaurant, but what a novel fricking concept.

R&K sucks.
it might just be that i'm from south LA and expect better, but that place is terrible.

I agree, but I think it would have to be better than Red Lobster. Granted, I haven't be to R & K's in about 7 years and have never been to a Red Lobster.

The Advocate has reviewed Chilis before. Reviewing red lobster doesn't surprise me. I'm surprised that haven't reviewed a mcdonalds yet.

I'm just impressed that someone at the AD-Vacate had the balls to write an actual critical review, not the usual Chamber of Commerce pablum.

T loves red lobster, and doesn't read the paper, so the place will continue to draw crowds.

Thank you for this. Pretty fair sounding review. And the scallops were cooked perfectly!

Agree with this. It is an indictment of the Advocate moreso than RL.
Are they going to review McDonalds too?

Why would anyone within a cpl of hours of the Gulf ever eat at Red Lobster?

Cheddar Bay Biscuits!
Aren't all finer dining decisions based upon the table bread? Even if you must ante $7 for some Lil Village Signature Cheesy Greasy or $5 for their plain bread with olive tapendade.
