Tiger fan for life and have decided to finally make the trip to BR for a game this year. With work schedule and vacation time setup it is looking like the Auburn game. Give me the lowdown. What is a must see, where to go at what times. When to arrive, and best seats to look for. I am looking at some now in 407, 412, and 616. Opinions? Thanks in advance.

I am bringing the wife and maybe another couple

Good lord man.

Tailgate and tailgate some more.
Band comes down the hill a little before the game. Get in your seat for pregame and enjoy.

Don't want to sit in 616 for the full game experience. Generally fans in the upperdecks sit on their arse the entire game. Sit in the bowl even if you have to spend a few extra bucks.

Get to the game very early. Auburn has a good chance of being at 2:30, so by early I mean Friday night. Stop by the bar at walk-ons Friday night. Get to campus by 5:30-6 Saturday morning and start tailgating. Go walk around campus and check out everybodies set up. A little before the game the band walks down the hill to go into the stadium (the players do too a little before that). The bands a must see. Then head to your seats, enjoy pregame, and don't stop cheering till the Alma mater after the game ends.

I know your schedule depends on your work but if you can make a earlier trip I would suggest Oct 8th LSU and FL...my opinion but the atmosphere of FL or bama in town is always better.

Team and band usually come down the hill about 2 hours before kickoff. DO NOT MISS THIS

Where are you coming from nogoodjr?
I would say sections 407 and 412 beat 616, unless you just love the upper deck. But if they are toward the bottom of 616, those would be decent also. Personally, I like sitting 'cattycorner' near either of the end zones.

Ok, where to start?
I would get to campus as early as you can. 6 or 7 in the morning is not too early. Seriously.
*EDIT If it is a day game, come Friday night :)
If you want to see DV in all her glory, come to a night game if you can!

Parking and tailgating spots will be at a premium this season.
If you want to walk around campus, I would check out a few of these: *The Memorial Tower/Campanile, though the inside museum might be closed. *The Quadrangle - get pictures. *The Parade Grounds. *The LSU Union - restaurants, book store, gift ship, art gallery, other games on TV, pool tables, etc. *The Indian Mounds, *The TAF pregame party inside the PMAC - Band, food, etc. *Mike's Habitat - pictures.
*The Gift Shop next to Mike. *Tiger Village - RV lot. Or just walk around and see all the tents, motor homes, canopies, etc.
Bring a football/frisbee to throw on the Parade Grounds.

At approximately 2 hours before kickoff, stand on the PMAC ramp facing N. Stadium Drive, or, even better, line up anywhere on N. Stadium Drive for the players and coaches, Mike's Cage, and the Golden Band from Tigerland to march down "Victory Hill". (Mike's cage takes a turn behind the Journalism Building on the East side). Take some pics and video of the TGBFTL playing "Hold That Tiger" Pregame after they play the famous drum cadence down Victory Hill.

TGBFTL marches down N.Stadium Drive (Victory Hill) approximately 90 minutes before kickoff, after they leave the PMAC and the TAF Pregame Party. But I would advise getting to N.Stadium Drive early to stake out a good spot!

In front of the PMAC, you will see many food vendors, (though all the tailgaters will have the best food in the world :) usually a country or rock band playing with mikes on cheering on the Tigers, and the LSU pregame radio show will be on the ramp.

As soon as the Band passes by on N.Stadium Drive, I would suggest IMMEDIATELY walking to the stadium and getting in early to find your seat, get concessions, etc.
But I cannot stress enough - BE IN YOUR SEATS """"""BEFORE"""""" the Band lines up in the SEZ. You do NOT want to come all this way for your first game in Death Valley, and miss Pregame !!!!!!!

Enjoy!!

Like the others said, go to walk ons, or got to the north gates of campus to Chimes, Serano's etc. Saturday morning, go to campus, take a DEEP breath.. You are here!! Eat, drink, taunt the hell out of the Boogs. Watch the band and hear the best 4 notes in college football. Haul arse to your LOWER BOWL seats. As said before, it is a must that you get in the bowl. If you are pressed for cash, try to get in the 400's in the corners. I've never sat up top, but I can imagine.
Walk through the corridor into the stadium, get goosebumps etc. Etc. I literally get chills every time and I've been many times. Watch pregame, boo (or tigerbait like the old schoolers) the AU team. And yell like hell until the final whistle. (on defense of course.) God, you're going to love it.

thats impressive if true, but comes out to over 8 games a year for 18 years. that would mean you were going to a lot of game when you were 0,1,2,3 or have been to a ton of away games since.

I've gone to about 8-9 games on average since 2001, so I'm close. The older I got, the more road games I got to go on with pops. Hell he let me fly out with some random TAF peeps in 2009 haha. But seriously, it has to be at least a little over 100. 150 is probably a stretch, I stand corrected

Wow, thanks for all the info. I am 38 and live north of the Shreveport/Bossier area. I understand it sounds weak to have never been to a game. When I was young our family was poor and a game was not an option. I remember listening to games on the radio every sat. night. My kids (10 and 8) cant remember a time when LSU wasn't on TV almost every game. Since I have aged and become more successful, it just never worked out. I work mostly weekends, and never got a invite from any regulars. Wife finally said "lets go already and quit talking about it!" I have an RV and considered trying to buy a RV pass so we can get the full experience. Any suggestions on buying a pass? Expected cost?

Again, thanks for all the info and keep it coming.
