Does anyone know of an affordable way to scan about 10k standard size pages into digital format? I have a few boxes of old coursepacks (binders with all the course contents/cases) from my MBA courses that I'd like to get rid of but I want to make sure I still have access to the content. After searching online the lowest priced options I found were about $0.10 - $0.15 per page but I was hoping there was a cheaper alternative out there.
I figured there'd be a few others on this board that have had to deal with a similar issue and figured out an affordable solution.

call companies who do this and have them bid on the whole package.

Most companies that do this sort of thing would consider this a pretty small job. I worked at a company that did this for major lawsuits (a couple were in national news at the time) and a good one for us was 10 million documents (not pages). It employed a small army of paralegals doing keywords to classify them.
Honestly, if I were you I'd look into just getting a printer/scanner combo with a document feeder and pay some kid to babysit it. I have a Canon MX870 and like it, although for 10K pages you might want something with higher capacity.
ETA: The printer I mentioned goes for about $150, you could pay said kid $10/hr and do it for a few hundred, probably. Less than Kinko's, anyway.

You can buy a decent scanner with a feeder for $400, but you have to account for time. My buddies summer job was to scan tax returns for a firm and on a good day (7hrs) he could get 2k pages done.

When the Fortune 100 companies and/or governments go after each other they get pretty serious about trying to snow under the other side with documents. State of Texas vs. the Tobacco Industry was in that class.
The biggest was 15 mil and we weren't the only firm doing the work either. Lots of forests must have been cut down for that one.

Thanks - it's looking like buying a scanner may be the most affordable option. I can also probably get some value for it on craigslist once I'm done with it.
