Maspero's is the only one I've eaten at besides Cafe du Monde.

Thoughts?

(PS - I hope those two are in the French Quarter, it's been a long time since I went to Nawlins and I was pretty young at the time)

Your list is a great one and it would definitely qualify on most people's best of the French Quarter lists. But the problem I have sometimes with suggestions and lists that are thrown out on here is that most of the time, people's lists are compromised up of way too many expensive restaurants. There are many places I would put on suggestion type lists that are great food and affordable.

I love eating at all the nice places once in a while. But for most people, they aren't looking for the $25-30+ entree places to eat at frequently.

Wasn't trying to make it a criticism of anyone. I just think there are so many places in our area to eat that could be on any subjective "best" list that aren't that expensive.

I was just making a general observation.

well, why don't you post a list of your suggestions for low to mid price range restaurants in the FQ...easy solution to your observation is to provide an alternate list.

for the record, i agree; i generally know the high-end places i want to eat when i visit the FQ but struggle more to find the really good low to mid price places.

not clear what the OP is looking for, in terms of best as it relates to price range.

In my experience, most of the moderately priced menus in the FQ serve sub-par food. I can only think of a couple that I would suggest.

Galatoire's

I went and ate there a year or two after Katrina and it was terrible... Never go back again. The sad part is we went with my grandfather for his birthday and they messed his order up and the food came out cold.

I went on a date last Saturday and he took me to Stella. When I left I thought it was the best I've had not only in the quarter, but in NOLA!
