How Upset Would You Be If We Lost Lance Moore to FA?

I'd be furious. He might be one of my favorite Saints outside of the usual suspects.

This guy is critical to the offensive success, in my opinion. He needs to get paid.

as long as Drew Brees is on the field and has time to throw, it doesn't matter who the WRs are.

depends who we lose him to.

If he goes to the AFC, about a 4
If he goes NFC, about a 5.5
If he goes to the Bucs, a 7
If he goes to the Falcosn, an 11

I'd be pretty pissed. He is as sure handed as it gets and although he doesn't rack up stellar numbers (as no skill players really do with our O) its always good to have a trustworthy receiver on those 3rd downs.

He sure racked up some nice numbers in '08 IIRC. Just shy of the 1000-yard mark. Not bad for someone who's largely considered just a slot receiver.

I love Lance "The Dance" Moore. I'd be super pissed if our FO let him walk out, unless some other team is offering him something ridiculous.

i was a huge fan of him until he bitched after the season about getting paid on twitter.

he's important, but not that important.

if we lose him we have to keep reggie though, or vice versa

He deserves to get paid, he's the most dependable WR we have. Although we have one of the best QB's in the league, Moore has greatly contributed to our success the last few years.

i don't care if we lose him. seems like he's been getting injured a shite ton recently anyway. we have marques, devery, and arrington coming up. drew knows how to spread the ball and make things happen in this offense. losing lance isn't as big of a deal as it's made out to be imo.

I wouldn't really care. He is one of the Saints that I like the least

They'll keep him. We'd be OK without him, but having someone besides Dev under contract for 2012 would help with negotiations with Meachem and Colston. If he leaves, their agents REALLY have us by the balls, so paying a little more than we'd like for Moore may very well pay for itself next offseason.

Still, with tough FA choices coming up, I think WR is one area where Drew can live without great ones. I was fricking ecstatic with this year's draft, but I would have liked to have gotten a Titus Young/Hankerson/Jernigan type in the 2nd or 3rd round so they could get some experience in the case that we lose 2 or more of our WRs in FA in the next two years.

I'm a Saints team fan more than individual player fan. Lance is one of the more underrated players in the NFL. That said, insiders know his talent and someone may be willing to overpay for him. In the Payton era they have been quite prudent about who to keep and how much to spend. More than Moore gone or not would be the contributing factors...

-for how much? I'd be more upset if they overpaid for him. Fujita was a great guy too. I would not have been happy if the Saints would have paid the $14mil that the Browns did tho. Fans need to face up to the reality of how a talented team has to deal with the crunch of the salary cap. Think of the many Patriot players that have been traded or let go rather than pay too much or going one contract too far in age/performance.

-who replaces him? I'd like NYG Steve Smith at an even higher price myself. There are plenty of other FA options that could end up being a better value option even if not as talented.

All that and I put him as a 70% chance of returning in the free agency thread. I only count Harper & Streif as surer things to return out of the prospective free agents.

No one has come screaming at him with money bags the past two seasons. Even several years ago when he played at the starter spot for colston. He will be back.

kinda relevant- that was as a RFA costing a 2nd Rd pick not UFA tho

He just came up on NFL Live yesterday, Mark Schlereth named him as his pick as the most underrated receiver in the NFL.

I'd be upset. But I feel we have a good stable of WR's.
