I love Green Lantern but this movie is going to be shite.Sadly though, I will still see it.

Captain America will be the best of the Big Four, but Cowboys and Aliens might be the overall winner.

This season's fare:

Thor - surprisingly good! I really liked it, and I'm not a huge Thor fan.

X-Men - man, was this one a shocker. Early reports lead me to believe this was going to be a total stinker. The first few rumors supported this. Then it hit, and holy shite, it's an awesome movie! I really liked it, so much so that I'm thinking of seeing it again. I NEVER see a movie twice in a theatre any more.

Green Lantern - Man, what a dissappointment? I'm a fan of GL, have a ton of his comics, and was really hoping for a good movie. I like Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, seems like a good fit. But the suit looks like shite, the CGI is way over done, there're way too many GL extras, and from what I hear, the story is crap. I'll wait for this one to come on HBO/Pay Per View.

Captain America - I didn't collect a lot of Cap's stuff, but I've always respected the character, and liked him in general. This movie may change all that, I may be buying lots of back issues.

Cowboys and Aliens - never collected any of the comics, but the concept looks cool, and I'm excited to see it.

I'm right there with you on those two.

Green Lantern- I think I'll enjoy it for what it is. I hope I will. I said it in another thread but if this one can at least make enough to warrant a sequel, we'll be in for a very solid movie there. GL comic fans know what I mean. Don't want to spoil anything.

Captain America- I really thought this one would blow Thor out the water. Then Thor ended up being good so now I'm really expecting a cool WWII/science fiction mix with this one. Can Chris Evans pull off the Capt America personality? That's whats gonna sell it or sink it.

That's a good question. I think it will all depend on him. Because he started as a teen movie guy, I didn't take him seriously as Johnny Storm. But he surprised me, he was actually very good, and totally fit the role.

With Cap, he's going to have to suppress the immature, fly by the seat of his pants, image, and go for a more dour, serious, resolute, quiet guy style. I always see Cap as embodying "walk softly and carry a big stick". We'll see if Evans can make the transformation. Hell, who would have thought Mr. Mom could be a bad arse Bruce Wayne?

Can you imagine if there were message boards in 1989?

I was just 12 and even I was like "Beetle Juice is Batman??"

I loved X-men, but I haven't had a complaint about any of the movies so far. I just really liked the comics and always dreamed about being Storm.

I'll see Green Lantern, but I don't have high expectations.

Captain America will be sweeeeeet. Isn't it the guy from Star Trek, the movie?

Definitely seeing Cowboys and Aliens. Super interesting story line, even though I was one of like 20 people in the theater that didn't think it was ridiculous.

Thor- how in the hell did people really enjoy this film? i found it extremely boring and trivial. not a lot going on here, just a set up for the avengers really.

X-men - as previously stated i went in and was blown away. it was absolutely fantastic. the acting was amazing, and the story was well paced. easily the best of the summer. i do want to see this again

Green Lantern- i pretty much gave up hope after the first trailer hit. the CGI is baffling. Paralax couldnt look lamer. I will give it a shot since its one of the best comics right now, but im not expecting too much (hopefully ill be surprised).

Captain America- this looks really good. never read too much Cap outside of the Avengers, but it looks to be going in the right direction.

Cowboys and Aliens- never read the books, but with the cast and concept, how can it not be a fun/enjoyable summer film?

I hope Green Lantern does well, sequels would be nice for the local film crews.

not sure if they will still continue with plans if it bombs, but they already wrote the sequel and planned the third. it was meant to be a trilogy from the start

I'm pretty sure Geoff Johns got a lookover on those plans and tweaked a few things too. Green Lantern 2 should totally have an Empire Strikes Back vibe.

XMen was really good. I'm with Counting on this one. GL will make enough for there to be a sequel. At least I really hope.
