Ancora and High Hat

Both Ancora (wood fired pizzas and salumi) and High Hat (Mississippi Delta cuisine) open today on Freret St. Both have Adolfo Garcia involved as a partner, but chef/partners running the kitchen.

Checked out Ancora for soft opening on Saturday. The oven is a beast and once the kitchen gets its intricacies down pat, they are going to be turning out some very impressive pizzas. This is not to say anything we had was bad, just that the oven is like a Ferrari, and takes some training to operate at its best.

Great apps as well, especially a little ricotta and chili oil "dip" that you spread on house baked bread. Check it out, hope you enjoy it.
