Ran into Kirk Coco of NOLA Brewing last night who told me that plans to bottle their beers have been scrapped.
In favor of putting them in cans which is awesome. New distributor allows them to do so. Buy your stock now.*

Any kind of time line on this. Would be nice if they were available to take to the beach later this summer!

I was told the same thing last week.

About 6 months out it looks like. Should still be hot by then
Yeh, I found that too. Too bad that will be after my vacation. Guess I just have to hide my bottles.

Maybe you can clue me in, but weren't they in a legal dispute with their prior distributor? If so, I assume it's been settled by now.

Yeah a couple years ago. Then old distributor, Glazers, sold distro rights to new distributor Crescent Crown (Abita, Coors, etc...).
The arrangement post law suit was described as "leaving your wife, starting to date a hot chick, then a judge forcing you to go back to your old wife."

A bartender described it to me in almost the exact same terms.

Question for Blackened Out: I think it would be particularly difficult to shotgun a Irish Channel Stout on the beach. What do you think?
I'm pretty confident that I can slay some 7th St. Wheats though...
Do you think by canning instead of bottling that this will be tougher to distribute to bars and restaurants? I guess all that will be draft sales...
Wouldve been nice to have Nola Brew cans at Hogs 4 the Cause a couple of months ago bc someone kept bumping into my fat@ss and spilling my beer in the noodle zone during Anders...

Think bars will still choose draft.
Would be cool to have nola blonde in cans and a specialty beer tent. That would be an ideal scenario.

But more importantly, what about the shotgunning?

Love the fact that more and more craft brews are turning to cans. Cans are better from almost every aspect. They don't let light in, create a much better seal that doesn't allow oxygen in, weight less, easier to pack, can bring them to the beach or tailgate, can be sold at Golf Clubs or on airplanes, and they taste just as good as bottles.

Make sure you are not wearing a white shirt while shootgunning that irish stout

Since Irish Channel Stout will be in a 16 ounce can, if you can shotgun that you probably can handle just about any collateral damage that may ensue.

This is great news. Wish they were here for summer, but I guess I can wait.
This move could put them over the top

The downside to only having cans and no bottling option is that you can't ever make bottle conditioned beers (think of many Belgian quads).
Then again, making and storing bottle conditioned beers in unairconditioned warehouses in the New Orleans area might not be the best decision to make to begin with.
