Set the mark at 400 yds. I see Chavis flapping his lips with his forefinger wearing a dunce cap on the sideline. This is no pro-style offense so Chavis won't know how to defend it. He will be bamboozeled by it's complex nature and we will squeezing diamonds with our butt cheeks late in the fourth quarter. How soon we forget. We couldn't stop little ole miss last year and they run a simular offense. We have great talent on defense but the scheme is the same. If our offense sputters...we will lose.

You know better than to bring the truth to the board if it happens to be of the opposite opinion of the rantards.

It's true that Chavis struggles with most zone read teams. But I trust he will have us all ready. It's mostly going to be up to our O to ground and pound imo. Keep their O off the field, they can't score.

I think Oregon will run up some yards, but the key will be to make the Ducks earn them little chunks at a time. At some point, they will make a mistake and our defense will make them pay.

If LSU can get a decent lead, stop the run and make them 1-dimensional, it'll be LSU by a wide margin. If the Ducks have even a semblance of a running game, it'll be a lot closer.

If Oregon stops LSU's run, they will win easily.

Are you kidding me??? Let's put it this way, Chavis has had a whole college football season and then some to prepare for Oregon's offense. LSU had a little less than a week to prepare for Ole Miss, and only one person killed us. Our defense is one of the best in the nation if not the best last year. We'll be fine. Oregon will never have seen a team with as much team speed as LSU's.

LSU always does the best with time to prepare. If this was the 6th or 7th game in the season I'd be worried. But def. not the first. It's gonna be a great game and we're gonna see if our hype for next year is true from day 1.

Excellent observation. However, if Oregon does not stop LSU's run, they will lose horribly

They put up 19 points on Auburn.

I like our chances

Know what the difference is between Oregon and Ole Miss.

38 less lbs in the backfield. Brandon Bolden is often overlooked, but stick him on any pro styled team in the SEC, and he is a 1200 yard rusher. (he had close to 1000 this year FWIW). Masoli is 8 lbs bigger than Thomas and a better runner.

So come sept 3rd, its going to be a lot easier for our 190 lb DB's to tackle 185 lb James, 180 lbs Barner, and 212 lbs Thomas than it would to stop a Bolden.

We had all Summer to prepare for North Carolina. Then they lost half their team and with 7 seconds left in the game...we didn't know if we would win or not. Chavis has the luxury of great talent. His scheme is Poo Poo.

Our defense was much better last year than the year before and I think it will be even better this year. This first game will be a good measuring stick. We did struggle against spread offenses/mobile QB's last year but the good thing for us is we know who we are facing, we know how good they are and we have 8 months to prepare for them. If our defense is able to shut them down (or slow them down, my goal is to keep them at 20 or below) then to me that is a success and as long as our O can be decent (don't even have to be great), we should win. IMHO Oregon and Arkansas are going to be the 2 toughest offenses to stop. Our advantage on paper beside the time to prepare is Oregon's new starters on the OLine. Pressure/disruption up the middle is a key to stopping them (See Nick Fairley) and I think an average Auburn defense was able to exploit them last year in this respect.

I would much rather have LMJ. 38 pounds can be a detriment in the read option. I like the idea of a bruiser in the second half, like Blount. Besides, this year we have LMJ, Barner, Seastrunk, DAT and Carson in the backfield. It will be sick.

Btw, Darron Thomas in an interview said he's on a regiment to add 15 pounds.

Are you stupid, you can't even use the UNC game to back up that claim. We used somewhere around 16-18 true and redshirt freshman and true sophomores who played barely any or no time before that game. I think they gave up two long touchdown passes one for 70+ and one for 80+. It was basically playing scrimmage with so many young players on both teams.

We will put these ducks down early and use the run game to drain the clock.

It all depends on how well our defensive line plays. Strong, quick D-lines that play their assignments have been the downfall of the Ducks' offense since Kelly got there. If their line can hold its own, look out. If we can dominate up front, we can slow them down.

Maybe you should just slit your wrists now and get it over with, for pete's sake.

We also had a 30-10 lead entering the 4th quarter in that game before we msyteriously let our foot off the gas. The UNC game got close due to lack of focus in the 4th quarter, not some failure of scheme.
