I'm 3/4 the way through the first one and I already have the second one loaded through Steam. Can't wait.

I'm considering this game. Can anyone give me a quick summary of the gameplay+environments? I like games like this (similar to the elder scrolls series). How is the story and do I need to play the 1st one?

I only played for a hour or so but its kind of like dragon age action rpg. From playing the beginning they mention facts about what happened at the end of part one, but I heard the 1st game was fun too, so you might want to check it out.
