If Georgia goes 500 in regular season but doesn't win enough games in SEC tourny to stay above 500 do they still get bid to NCAA tourney. If I were Georgia I would not accept the bid to tourny. If they win mid week game and 1 against Vandy they finish 500. With there RPI,SOS, & division record, they should be a lock for post season play.

Georgia must either finish 1 game above .500 or win the SEC tournament.

That doesn't matter since they won't be eligible but it made me lulz.

You have to have a .500 record to make the tournament, and I would assume that includes all games. It would really suck for them if they finished .500 and then don't win at least 2 games in the SECT to stay there. They can really only blame themselves after the start they had

They have to finish 1 game above .500 to make the NCAA tourney. This requires them to win their mid-week game and take 2 of 3 against Vandy to be exempt prior to Hoover.

Otherwise, it will depend on their next four games and how far they have to go in Hoover.

Is UGA not even aware of the rule?

quote:

“We’re a little bit unique in the sense of the overall record,” Georgia coach David Perno said Thursday. “But I’ve seen teams get in [to the NCAA tournament] with 29, 30 regular-season wins. If we’re above .500, I don’t think there will be any negotiations about it. Our RPI is too good; our strength of schedule is too good; our standing in the toughest conference in the country is too good. I think it becomes scary if our overall dips below .500. We’re aware of that.”

Probably not, but it looks like UGA is in deep crap right now, I don't think they'll get it done

I think Vandy pounds them this weekend. All but killing their chances without winning the SEC tournament. Vandy wants the SEC title.

And they've already lost of Kennesaw State.

I can't believe Kentucky took 2/3 from them.

I can't find the "rule" anywhere in writing for D1...only for D2...

Could CST have made shite up?

I found something in an NCAA manual that says this:

quote:

To be considered during the at-large selection process, a team must have an overall won-lost record of .500 or better.

I am trying to link it...

please do. Seriously can they refuse an SEC tourny bid and the NCAA not frown on them.

I found something for D1 soccer that says about ".500 or better", but it references a Bylaw that I can't find in the NCAA manual.

I think .500 gets them in...kinda like a 6-6 team can go to a bowl game.

The series will be in Georgia, so they have a better shot. Vandy just lost 2/3 at home to Fla.
