Where are they saying the floodwaters are coming in from the east side of the Mississippi River? It shows 10'- 20' water depths from St. Francisville all the way down to Scotlandville. From what I've seen or heard, is nothing, or am I missing something?

St. Francisville

Some low areas in St. Francisville are flooded. That was not unexpected.

Are you looking at the "if Morganza is not opened" map?

No, using the
LINK look to West Feliciana and East Baton Rouge Parish, by the river.

St. Francisville to Scotlandville is pretty much swamp and lowland until you hit the bluffs. I used to fish/run nets behind Georgia Pacific in Port Hudson and I have spent a lot of time running the river in this area.
what you have is flooded timber swamp and creeks that run out of the higher ground on the bluff. This is what is flooding. I have fished off the bank of the river in August in places that I had lines set in 20 ft of water in May. Once the water hits the bluff it aint going any farther.

Yep. A few homes and buildings below the bluff near the ferry landing in St. Francisville, along with the mat field (don't know if that's still in business, tho). That's about it. Water was over the road to the ferry prior to this.

Ok, thanks for the info. I just didn't hear anyone address that part of the flooding. They just assumed that everyone knew about the lowlands to the bluffs.

I work for DOTD and one of the jobs is hwy 66 leading to Angola. They are pouring concrete on the project even now as the water rises.
