From Maine to San Diego.
Talkin sooooooftball, Mattingly and Canseco
Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw.
Steve Sax and his run-in with law.
We're talkin Hooooooomerrrrr
Ozzie and the Straw...

Feeling nostalgic. The Simpsons was so great when it was at its peak. Homer at the Bat was definitely a top 5 episode.

Oh, and I say England's greatest prime minister was Lord Palmerstone! LINK

Agree phenomenal episode. It's ashame that Simpsons episodes from the last 10 years are shown in syndication.

I would say this episode was several years before the peak. I think it was 1991 - show was barely off the ground then.

My favorite part is when Steve Sax is totally friendly and compliant with the police and they still take him in: "You don't know when to shut up, do ya, Saxy Boy".

Homer: I play right field, too.
Darryl: So?
Homer: Well, are you better than me?
Darryl: Well, I never met you, but...yes.

Maybe. But it was season 3. Think of all the great episodes that came from around that time: Simpson and Delilah was another one of my favorite episodes ever; Dancin Homer, Bart the Daredevil, Bart Gets Hit by a Car, 3 Men and a Comic Book, Bart vs. Thanksgiving--all from season 2 and all spectacular IMO.

Season 3 had "Stark Raving Dad" (the Michael Jackson episode), "When Flanders Failed" (Leftorium episode), "Colonel Homer", and "Flaming Moe's", among others.

I will admit that the show was still at its peak several years later in season 8 when another one of my favorites "You Only Move Twice" (the Hank Scorpio episode) and a bunch of other great ones came, but I'd say it was already at the top of its game in season 2.

Still like him better than Steinbrenner.

Another thing I've always thought about recently: How hilarious would it be today if back then Barry Bonds was in Griffey's place? It would have been "Barry Bonds' grotesquely swollen jaw."
