I'm sure negative baseball fans will erase the silver lining, but---LSU has lost 7 games by one run and 2 by two runs...may not mean much but in baseball usually these games start going the other way...

I like the attempt to stay positive. I have been trying to stay positive but after this weekend I think the hole is to deep. Even if they start winning a few of these 1 run games I do not think it will be enough.

credit a lot of it to PM's approach this year.

you lose close games when you bunt people over then strand them on base.

Can you really count the games we were shut out though? A 5-0 loss isnt much different than a 1-0 loss. In both cases your offense sucks and failed at doing anything.

Now games where they lose 5-4 thats a close game that you could have won.

Sure you can. Take the 1-0 loss to Florida. We had 9 hits, left 10 men on base including 7 in scoring position. That's a game with one or two hits at the right time and you win.

I agree.

I question the small ball early in the game. CPM has taken the bat out of Hanovers hand to many times this year only for J Jones, Mikie and Nola to leave the runner stranded.

Late in the game I agree with the bunt, but in the first few innings I see it as giving outs away.

Why are we calling hit and runs? Last I checked you need to have a team that hits the ball for those plays to work. This year hit and runs have been inning killers.

I would love to see a stat on how many hits we have gotten with guys in scoring position that have been responsible for runs in the last couple of weekends. It seems like every time we are scoring it's either on a walk, error, or a sac. fly, not those are necessarily bad, but when you don't knock multiples in at once, or have to rely on the other team to score, it's going to be difficult.

It's worked a few times, but it's not a good call when we're not hitting the ball.

Well its pretty easy to say that LSU would win most games should they not leave over 10 men in scoring position.. When you do it more than once in a season though it doesnt really say... Hey they may turn the corner on that one.

For every 9hit loss LSU has there are also those 7-6 score wins where the other team has 3 or more errors.

A loss is a loss and a win is a win. The only thing that really matter is how many you have of each.

I tend to view it a different way. If we could hit worth a crap we would probably be 11-4 in SEC.

News Flash! We are only 4 games out of first place and still have to play Alabama and Miss State in our division! We can def do this thing! As bad as we have been, we still have a legit shot at #1 in the West! Call me crazy, but we def do!!

It works that way in baseball at the high levels (major NCAA conferences, Minor league, MLB). they've also won 5 games by one run and 2 games by two runs. It's pretty much a wash. You'll find pretty much the same with a lot of teams

He's also used the swing away approach (which I support) many times only to have that strategy fail too. At some point, you're going to have to hit with RISP, whether you play small ball or not.

He can't swing the bat for them. At some point, any team that wants success needs clutch hitting.

Sounds good, but what have you seen from this team in the first half of sec play that leads you to believe they can win road series at bama or miss state? I would love for the tigers to win the west, but it just doesn't look like we have the team to make a turnaround.

Just confirming what we already know. LSU's BA with runners in scoring position in SEC games is .208, dead last in the league.
