My wife and I are passing through NOLA for 2 days on our way to Florida. We like to try different places whenever we are in town. We've never eaten at these 4 places that I hear we must try and we have time for 2 of them. Rank these in order:

Cochon
Boucherie
Drago's
Palace Cafe'

I think you've got them ranked right already. Drago's in metry is the better location in my opinion.

Spot on. Boucherie has a much more diverse menu than Cochon, though they often get lumped together. Also, it is much better value. Hell, you can go all vegan at Boucherie if you want.

Boucherie
Cochon

I really wouldn't bother with the other two.

Do you have to ask for a special menu?

I remember most of the foods there having some sort of meat

Well...all the foods that we ordered did anyway

I really wouldn't go eat a sit down meal at Dragos. It is fine for going into the bar to sit and have some char-grilled oysters, but there are so many better places in N.O. to eat.

Palace Cafe seems like it can be hit or miss at times.

Other suggestions are Mr. B's, Pelican Club, or Muriels.

Dragos last for sure. They have maybe the best dish in the chargrilled, but everything else is mediocre at best.

I don't get the hate for Palace. I like it a lot.

It is just not close to either Boucherie or Cochon IMO. It isn't bad, just not what I would pick.
