Restaurant Recs in Chattanooga, TN?

Reunion is only Friday-Sunday so we feel like it's a waste to drive all day Friday and Sunday so figured we'd leave Thursday and go somewhere on the way for the night. Nothing on the way interests me.. really some shitty options. So decided on Chattanooga. It's short enough of a drive to leave early and spend the afternoon/evening there before going to a hotel.. and it's close enough to Clayton to spend the morning in Chattanooga on Friday and get to the reunion around dinnertime like everyone else

I think it's because it's the best "happy medium" in relation to where everyone lives.. and has a nice looking resort we're staying at. It's Brag's fam.. not mine.

Mine's in butthole-town Basile, LA. If you blink, you miss it.

Hopefully TA sees this thread. He knows a good bit about Choo-Choo City.

I spent a summer in Chattanooga as a college intern National Park Ranger at the Chickamauga battle field.

Not much there on the food scene other than country cookin' (and the usual chains - Krystal's all over the place - that's where they started)

Two places i usually went to for lunch were a place called Park Place (right outside the gates to the park i worked), and Bea's, which was a place that had a lazy susan in the center of the tables with an assortment of things like fried chicken, greens, black eyed peas, mac and cheese, etc.

If you're looking for more formal, fine dining, you'd probably look downtown by the river.They've really redeveloped it in recent years, and its small enough that everything is in walking distance.

I have had to go to CHattanooga for last 8 years for work. I usually stay around the aquarium area because you can walk everywhere even at night. All of these place are in walking distance as downtown area very pedestrian friendly. Here are a few recommendations:

Terra Nostra is a great Tapas place with great wines and very reasonable. It is across the bridge at 105 Market Street. I have taken customers there and they love it.

Tony's Pasta Shop in the Bluff View Arts District is excellent too, the bread and olive oil cheese is addicting.

There are 2 other restaurants in that area Rembrandt's Coffee House, they make the best macaroons and desserts. Stay away from the cupcakes get something different and they make their own chocolates. The Bluff View Inn, been there 3 times it was good but Tony's is better.

Heard good things about Terminal Brewhouse have never been there

Blue Plate is a diner, southern cooking with modern updates

Hiroshi Sushi- I have had better but the people in Chattanooga swear by it

Taco Mac for late night bar food

Sticky Fingers for BBQ

Aretha Frankenstein's for breakfast - i have heard about it but have never had the chance to go there

St. John's is one of the few upscale restaurants there and it has the best service and has a really nice menu.

212 Market another upscale but inconsistent food wise

Hennen's Steakhouse - love the bar there the food is okay not the best steak I ever had but okay
