I'm from Louisiana and like to have an occasional crawfish, but if I had a choice between crawfish or shrimp, I'd choose shrimp everyday of the week.

Am I in the minority here?

crawfish vs shrimp boil? or just crawfish/shrimp in everyday dishes?

if it's a boil, I'm taking crawfish everytime and its not even close.

But for cooking... well that would depend on the dish.

i these two different dishes.

crawfish boil is having family/friends over, getting messy outside and usually at least a half day event.

when i boil shrimp it's just a dinner.

I love crawfish, but boiled royal reds are hard to beat

Conclusion: Crawfish for larger gaterings- Shrimp for the family

I can't really taste shrimp. Never understood why they were so popular.

Definitely shrimp. Crawfish is cool a couple times a year. I could eat shrimp all the time. I liked it boiled and then chilled before I eat it.

hard to say.

I think I like the flavor of shrimp more but having crawfish is more of an event than a meal... that just adds to the appeal

It's the most perfect food on the entire planet. I could eat shrimp as my only source of animal protein for the rest of my life.

It is kinda apples to oranges. I love shrimp, and I love a crawfish boil, but they're 2 very different events.

Fresh boiled crawfish is seasonal and therefore stretched out over a year they are scarce. Scarcity increases value. Simple economics

You might not be, but I feel the opposite of you. I actually hate shrimp any way other than fried (and only mildly like it fried). I feel like shrimp, no matter what you do to it, has no flavor.
But to each their own.
