BR Mardi Gras Parades

Anyone know when they close the streets for these parades? More specifically the Southdowns parade tomorrow. I can't find this shite anywhere.

re: BR Mardi Gras Parades

I have friends who live on the parade route, and we try to get to one of their houses by about 5:30. I don't think they close the streets that early (it seems like it's no more than 30 minutes before the parade rolls), but traffic is a BITCH considering it's such a small parade. Even roads not directly on the parade route are affected. Some of those narrow streets with cars parked on both sides become almost impassable, especially when you add in people walking all over the place.

I'm not sure if they're still working on Stanford, but if they are, I'm sure that will add to the traffic mess.

Also, it seems like in the past they don't close the roads for the whole route right away...Hyacinth near Stanford used to be open until shortly before the parade made it there. They may have changed this recently though.

Yes, Southdowns is kind of a crappy little parade. It's basically just a small neighborhood parade, but we go every year because it's easy (and pretty safe) to take the kids to it.
